It’s no secret that Shedeur Sanders struggled in the last NFL Draft. Many were surprised by his decline, as all predictions pointed to him being a top three pick. In the end, however, that wasn’t the case.
The Cleveland Browns selected Shedeur in the fifth round as the 144th overall pick, which was a huge blow to the 23-year-old’s ego, as well as to his father’s. Despite what happened, Shedeur is moving forward and training with the Browns at minicamp.

The competition is tough, but he’s confident he can earn a spot as the team’s quarterback. Much speculation beforehand centered on a possible move to the Steelers, as he could have filled the void left by the team’s lack of quarterbacks. It would have certainly been a great option, but the Pittsburgh team did not consider him.
This came as a surprise, as he ended up on a team with an arsenal of top-notch quarterbacks. Earning a spot there will be very difficult in his first season. Unlike the Browns, the Steelers are still looking for a player who can carry that responsibility.

The Steelers were not interested in Sanders
On the latest edition of “First Take,”Stephen A. Smith expressed his disbelief that the Steelers ignored Shedeur, given their desperate need for a quarterback.
Ryan Clark, a former Steelers player, addressed the ESPN journalist’s concerns.
“If he had fallen to the seventh round, the Steelers would not have drafted Shedeur Sanders.”
“Shedeur was not going to be selected by the Pittsburgh Steelers. Whatever the evaluation, whatever the decision, he was not going to be the quarterback chosen, drafted, and called by Mike Tomlin,” Clark said during the chat.
Of course, everyone was left with the feeling that Smith was the missing piece for the Steelers. However, they made their decision and selected Will Howard instead. Critics will be watching them closely because if Howard doesn’t live up to expectations, they will criticize the Steelers‘ decision not to go all out for Shedeur.
