The only news that interests the Dallas Cowboys before the season begins is the contract extension for Micah Parsons, after the disappointment of losing Omarion Hampton in the Draft, and even after announcing the trade of George Pickens from the Pittsburgh Steelers.
However, the team’s executive vice president, Stephen Jones, aware of the situation and the expectation, and even the impatience of the fans, goes off on a tangent and diverts attention like his father, by promising that there will be new player acquisitions, defending his approach and strategy for 2025

Promises are cheap
Who Could Be the Surprise Team This Year in the NFL?
“We never finish. I’ve always said that 365 days a year are for acquiring players and certainly if we see something that improves our team, we’ll do it,” Jones told the media who keep asking what the next steps are for the Cowboys ahead of the new season that kicks off on September 4 with their visit to the champion Philadelphia Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field
Micah Parsons is hardly talked about anymore, as the franchise has made his negotiations with the linebacker impenetrable, creating a great unnecessary mystery, as everyone knows how it will end, although it is not known why it is delayed. This did not happen, at least not so flagrantly, with Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb, Osa Odighizuwa and Kavontae Turpin.
Stephen Jones ‘cantinflea’ about Micah Parsons
This is what Jones said, in response to a direct question from the media. A response in which he said a lot, but in the end said nothing: “I’ve never been one to set contracts with a crystal ball. You can be close, believe you’re around the corner, and then they’re thrown out and there are extenuating circumstances that make them reluctant to sign. So it’s a work in progress (…) You really don’t know where you are until both parties are ready to start. Obviously our goal is, and we’ve talked about it with Micah, to retain him. I think Micah wants to be a Cowboy, and we want him to be for the long term,” said the executive.
