In der Formel E sollte heute Nacht um 3.20 Uhr (10.20 Uhr Ortszeit) eigentlich das Qualifying für das erste von zwei Rennen an diesem Wochenende in Tokio stattfinden. Doch weil der Regen einfach nicht nachließ und es stehendes Wasser auf der Fahrbahn gab, musste das Qualifying nach mehreren Verschiebungen aus Sicherheitsgründen kurzerhand abgesetzt werden.

Um 4.02 Uhr deutscher Zeit wurde die finale Entscheidung über den Ausfall der Quali getroffen. Rennleiter Marek Hanaczewski: „Wir sind gezwungen, das Qualifying abzusagen.“
Die Folge: Anstelle der Quali zählen laut Reglement die Ergebnisse des 2. Freien Trainings über die Startreihenfolge des Rennens am Samstag. Dieses hatte, ebenfalls unter schwierigen Streckenbedingungen, noch stattfinden können.
Davon profitiert der Gesamtführende Oliver Rowland (115 Punkte/Nissan). Er hatte das 2. Freie Training gewonnen und geht somit von der Pole-Position in das Rennen. Hinter ihm folgen Edo Mortara (Mahindra) und Norman Nato (Nissan). Maximilian Günther (DS Penske) wurde 9., der amtierende Weltmeister Pascal Wehrlein (Porsche) schaffte es nicht in die Top-10.
Interessant: Im Gegensatz zum sonst üblichen Vorgehen entfallen die drei Bonuspunkte für den Gewinner der Pole-Position.
Erster Erfolg nach 6 Jahren: Formel-E-Märchen in Monaco
Ob der heutige E-Prix am planmäßig um 8 Uhr (15 Uhr Ortszeit) über die Bühne gehen kann, ist angesichts der Wettersituation in Tokio offen. Der Zeitplan ist eng, da in Tokio ein “Double Header” stattfindet – heißt: am Sonntag gibt es ein 2. Rennen, für das es im Normalfall auch ein Qualifying geben wird.
Um 8 Uhr würde das Rennen planmäßig starten. Wichtig für Motorsport-Fans: Die Freien Trainings sind auf der offiziellen Website der Formel E zu sehen, Qualifyings und Rennen überträgt der kostenlose Privatsender DF1.
