Regen-Spektakel in Tokio!
Stoffel Vandoorne von Maserati hat das Formel-E-Rennen am Samstag in Tokio gewonnen. Nach dem abgesagten Qualifying starteten die Fahrer mit etwas Verspätung in ein teilweise chaotisches Regen-Rennen. Der Belgier setzte dabei auf einen frühen Pit-Boost (obligtorischer Boxenstopp mit Schnell-Ladung) – und seine Taktik ging auf.
Da der deutsche Rennfahrer Maximilian Günther (DS Penske), der Sieger des letzten Jahres in Tokio, technische Probleme hatte und sein Auto geborgen werden musste, wurde die rote Flagge gehisst. Vandoornes Pit Boost war damit praktisch ein Gratisstopp.

Stoffel Vandoorne nach dem Sieg: „Ich bin wirklich überglücklich, dass unser Plan aufgegangen ist. Es war eine riskante strategische Entscheidung und ich hatte einige kleine Fehler, die nicht hätten passieren sollen – aber es ist gut gegangen. Das war eine tolle Teamleistung.“
Oliver Rowland: „Es war gar nicht so leicht, das hier heute alles zu managen. Ich kann mich aber nicht beschweren über den zweiten Platz. Jetzt konzentrieren wir uns auf morgen.“
Erster Erfolg nach 6 Jahren: Formel-E-Märchen in Monaco
Taylor Barnard: „Ich hatte zwischendrin nicht damit gerechnet, dass wir heute überhaupt fahren. Jetzt bin ich einfach glücklich, dass es heute wieder so gut geklappt hat und wir auf dem Podium gelandet sind.“
Morgen geht es in Tokio in die zweite Runde.
