After rekindling their partnership in 2023, Sanders and Nike have steadily reintroduced and reinvented his iconic Diamond Turf line, honoring both his football and baseball careers.
Now, with the release of the Air Diamond Turf ’93 TD “White/Black” on May 29, the Hall of Famer is stepping out of familiar territory and into something far more universal.

This new release marks the first time the Diamond Turf 1 has debuted in a white-over-black colorway, breaking from its usual playbook of team-centric or Deion-specific designs.
Historically, these sneakers paid tribute to Sanders‘ career stops-Atlanta, San Francisco, Dallas, and even his current coaching stint at Colorado. But the White/Black Diamond Turf offers something different: a timeless, versatile option that appeals beyond nostalgia or team loyalty.
A new look for a new era of the Diamond Turf legacy
The White/Black cleats are a visual remix of the classic DT1, with white and black elements in all the same places as the original-but without the trademark red or the familiar touch of gold.
Even the metallic detailing has been stripped back, a decision that feels deliberate in its intent to clean up the silhouette. As Nike officially describes it, this is a grayscale evolution, giving the DT1 a “sharper” and more widely wearable aesthetic.
The absence of gold is especially symbolic. That accent has long been associated with Sanders‘ story-representing his Florida roots, his flash, and the symbolism behind “Prime Time.” Even newer releases like the “Love Letter to Connie” DT3 retained the gold element.
But here, Nike has chosen restraint. It’s a colorway meant to transcend the individual and meet broader sneaker culture on its own terms.
This drop could mark a pivotal moment in Nike’s marketing of the Diamond Turf line. Up until now, the line has been about honoring Deion’s specific journey. The original Falcons-inspired colorways, the 49ers-themed DT2, or the Cowboys-focused DT3 all pointed back to teams Sanders played for.
Even the recent “Colorado Road” and “Colorado Home” versions tied directly into his current head coaching role. The White/Black DT1, however, is the first that doesn’t reference a team, school, or personal milestone. It’s about mass appeal and streetwear versatility.
And it works. In sneaker culture, White/Black colorways have always had cachet. From the Air Jordan XI Concords to countless Air Force 1s and Dunks, the aesthetic is clean, understated, and timeless.
For the DT1-once considered a niche model known for its boldness and personality-this is a striking pivot. It’s dressed-down, but not dull. Stylish, but not showy. Exactly the kind of evolution a legacy line needs.
For Nike, it’s a move that signals intent. The White/Black cleat releases May 29, with no confirmed drop date for the sneaker version just yet. But if sales go well, a general sneaker release could be imminent.
It’s an experiment in design versatility-and if it lands, it could usher in a new chapter for the Diamond Turf brand entirely.
As Deion Sanders continues reshaping the University of Colorado football program without his sons on the roster, he’s doing the same with his signature footwear.
The White/Black Diamond Turf 1 is both a nod to the past and a step toward broader horizons. And just like everything Prime touches, it demands attention-even when it’s in monochrome.
