Sie sind gerannt, haben gelitten und gekämpft doch am Ende heißt der Sieger THW Kiel. Der Aufsteiger VfL Potsdam verliert in der Daikin Handball-Bundesliga 22:25, doch wie schon so oft in dieser Saison war kein Klassenunterschied zu sehen.
Gegen Hamburg (30:31), gegen Lemgo (21:22), gegen Gummersbach (26:28), gegen die Löwen (26:29), gegen Kiel schon im Hinspiel (23:27) und auch jetzt hätten die Potsdamer durchaus gewinnen können, wären da nicht immer diese letzten fünf Minuten.

Fünf Minuten vor dem Ende steht es 22:22, doch am Ende heißt der Sieger Kiel und nicht Potsdam.
Kreisläufer Josip Simic (25/wechselt nach Wetzlar) zu SPORT BILD danach: „Das ärgert uns schon brutal. Immer sind wir 55 Minuten dran, führen sogar und schaffen es nicht das Spiel zu gewinnen. Wir haben auch gegen Kiel wieder gezeigt, dass wir eigentlich in diese Liga gehören. Wir haben schnell gemerkt, dass die Kieler sich gegenseitig angegiftet haben, die hatten wohl alle keinen Bock zum Letzten zu fahren und dachten sich, es wird leicht. Wir haben sie ganz schön geärgert, uns aber nicht belohnt.“
Potsdam mit Kampfansage an die Meister-Kandidaten
Potsdams Kapitän Elias Kofler (24/wechselt nach Hamburg) ergänzt: „Wir spielen einen guten Handball, haben eine tolle Deckung und krasse Torhüter. Der Unterschied zur Weltklasse ist, wir verwerfen in den entscheidenden Phasen einfach zu viele Bälle.“

Doch aufgeben will man in Potsdam nicht. Kofler schmunzelt und schickt eine Kampfansage an die Meister-Kandidaten in der Liga: „Zu uns kommen noch Magdeburg, Hannover und Melsungen. Einen von den großen Klubs schnappen wir uns noch, da bin ich mir sicher, die kaufen wir uns. Wäre doch cool, wenn wir um die Meisterschaft mitmischen könnten, wir vielleicht am Ende die Meistermacher sind.“
Einfach wird es für keines dieser Teams in der kleinsten Halle der Liga (nur 2250 Fans) und Potsdam könnte am Ende seiner ersten Bundesliga-Saison als Partycrasher in Erinnerung bleiben …
