Ever since Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift announced their romance, fans turned their eyes to them and the NFL with increased frequency.
The media buzz they generated not only brought new fans to Travis’ game or Swift’s artistic career, but also to the world of the NFL. And that’s exactly where Washington Commanders would seem to want to enter.

Although no news has yet come out about a deal for the team to leave Northwest Stadium in Summerfield, Maryland, and move to the new RFK Stadium in Washington, DC, it was the Commanders’ president who brought the artist to the scene.
Given the importance of having a roofed space for a team, Mark Clouse, explained that it could also be a win for the city because of the economic windfall that extra-sports events normally leave behind and that Swift could elevate them and generate jobs.

There is a roof on the stadium, and I think that’s going to enable us to bring 30-40 world-class events – I mean, we will be the only roofed facility on this side of the mid-Atlantic. So, whether that’s Taylor Swift or the Final Four, or any WWE wrestling fans out there, ‘WrestleMania’ could come, but we are going to be able to host everything that’s in the city on a national stage.
The other side of the story and fan reaction
Despite the great growth and development opportunities proposed by Clouse, fans turned their sights on a larger point.
Because of Mark’s statements, fans were quick to criticize him but that he prioritized shows and money over their and the team’s well-being.
“Why give a crap about Swift? The roof should be all about the comfort of Commanders fans,” complained one fan. “Lmao Taylor Swift is one of the reason smh how about you want to protect [Jayden] Daniels from cold weather related injuries,” commented another. “Thank God, it’s going to have a Roof over it for Taylor Swift concerts, I was about to FREAK OUT!!!” another fan wryly expressed.
The truth is that the DC Council still has the project under consideration and it has not been confirmed that Commanders will change venues, but if so, would Taylor Swift perform there?
