Souhlasíte, že Američané byli po většinu zápasu lepší?
Jednoznačně. Měli lepší pohyb a výborné dovednosti v té rychlosti. Vytvářeli si střelecké příležitosti, v každé třetině nás přestříleli. Jednoznačně zasloužená výhra Ameriky.
Museli jste v průběhu utkání nějak upravit svůj plán, s kterým jste do zápasu šli?
Ani tolik jsme ho neupravovali. Jen jsme potřebovali nebýt tolik vylučovaní. Jenže jakoby nám odcházely síly. Bohužel rozpis je takový, že zatímco Amerika v pondělí nehrála, my jsme měli Němce. To podle mě taky hrálo roli.
Z čeho pramenilo tolik vašich vyloučení? Z frustrace? Nervozity?
Každý faul byl trošku jiný. Něco pramenilo z frustrace, něco z úbytku sil. Asi od každého něco. Každopádně nechceme fauly na útočné polovině, zvlášť proti takovému soupeři. Pokud chceme hrát vyrovnanější partii, je to tak na dvě vyloučení.
Pozitiv v zápase nebylo tolik. Jedním z mála byl Pastrňákův gól na 1:1, kdy skvěle odhadl situaci a dovolil si toulat se za obránci USA. Jak jste tuto situaci viděl?
Amerika hodně přechází do takového kříže 1-3-1 v útočném pásmu. To znamená, že na modré mají jediného beka a strany jim sjíždí. Kluci to věděli, David je v tomhle chytrý. Jedna z cest, jak s nimi hrát, je pokoušet se o tento rychlý protiútok. Jednou nám to vyšlo.
Na Karla Vejmelku šlo 55 střel. Je potřeba zapracovat, abyste se pod takovou palbu nedostávali.
Určitě, tohle nechceme! Ale vyplývalo to z toho, že to (na americké soupisce) byl samý hráč z NHL. Ti mají prostě kvalitu! Pozor, to (takový počet) my nemáme. Ještě když líp bruslí a na rozdíl od nás v pondělí nehráli, tak to není úplně fifty-fifty. V momentě, kdy mají nohy a pohyb, tak se takový zápas přihodí. Nám se to nestávalo, až teď.
V součtu i s loňským zlatým MS jde o vůbec první porážku na šampionátech pod vaším vedením. Může to s týmem nějak otřást?
Budeme dělat všechno, aby to s klukama nezamávalo. Uvidíme, to si budeme muset počkat. My trenéři ale budeme jednoznačně pracovat, aby to byla porážka, která nám může pomoct.
A hráči si aspoň uvědomí své chyby a zjistí, na čem zapracovat?
Hráči jsou zkušení a vědí, co se jim nepodařilo. Budeme se snažit je nabudit do čtvrtfinále. V Americe se nebudeme nijak pitvat, ty podstatné věci si ale určitě řekneme. Pokud chceme být úspěšní, musíme sehrát úplně jiný zápas.
Kapitán Červenka říkal, že je až kruté skončit s jedinou porážkou ve skupině až třetí. Vnímáte to stejně?
Takový je systém. Loni v Praze jsme taky neprohráli (po 60 minutách) a taky jsme byli třetí. Tak to je i teď. Jen s tím rozdílem, že tady jsme třetí kvůli vzájemnému zápasu (s USA).
