A catastrophic 2025 is projected for Josh Allen that could define his NFL Career

There is no doubt that one of the teams to watch in 2025 is the Buffalo Bills, who are the only franchise, according to betting odds, to be favored in all of their games for the upcoming season. Of course, things can change – an injury, for example – but based on initial projections, the Bills aren’t expected to lose a single regular-season game.

Buffalo Bills fans booed and cursed after Josh Allen was drafted and the video still stings

The Buffalo Bills undoubtedly made the right decision with their general manager, Brandon Beane, when they selected Josh Allen in 2018. He immediately became the face of the team and put the Bills back on the NFL’s competitive map after a couple of disastrous decades.

Allen has brought the Bills close to returning to the Super Bowl for the first time in over 20 years, but on several occasions, they’ve fallen just short. Their biggest playoff nemesis has been the Kansas City Chiefs, who have eliminated them in painful fashion more than once.

Now, Buffalo heads into the 2025 season once again as a major contender in the AFC, and with Josh Allen as the reigning MVP. For that reason, anything short of reaching the Super Bowl will feel bittersweet for Bills fans.

ESPN analyst believes Josh Allen will regress in 2025

Josh Allen had an impressive 2024, leading an offense that averaged 30.9 points per game, earning him the MVP award – though many believed Lamar Jackson was more deserving. Still, that trophy belongs to the Bills’ quarterback.

Allen has been spectacular throughout his career. He’s recorded 40 or more total touchdowns in five straight seasons – something no one else has done even in three consecutive years. Since 2019, he has consistently thrown over 28 touchdown passes and scored 12 or more rushing touchdowns each season. Despite these impressive numbers, ESPN reporter and analyst Mike Clay believes Allen’s performance will decline in 2025.

Clay projects that Allen will throw just 24 touchdown passes and score 10 rushing touchdowns next season. This would represent a significant drop, as he’s always surpassed 40 combined touchdowns over the past five years and has never dropped below 30. Additionally, Clay predicts Allen will throw for just over 3,500 yards – which would be his lowest total since 2019.

Of course, this is only a projection, but doubting Josh Allen is always risky. One reality, however, is that he currently lacks a top-tier receiver – although in 2024, he didn’t have one either and still put up outstanding numbers. That’s why his performance will be worth watching every week – from the former Wyoming quarterback.

Penn State has fired coach James Franklin six games into his 12th season with the Nittany Lions, the university announced Sunday amid a disastrous three-game slide. The No. 2 team in the preseason AP Top 25 just two months ago, the Nittany Lions slipped to 0-3 in Big Ten play following a stunning 22-21 home loss to Northwestern in Week 7 -- a game in which they were a three-touchdown favorite. The massive upset was Penn State's second in a row after falling at previously winless UCLA on Oct. 4, making it the first FBS team since 1978 to lose back-to-back games as favorites of at least 20 points. Associate head coach and cornerbacks coach Terry Smith will serve as interim for the remainder of the 2025 season. "Penn State owes an enormous amount of gratitude to Coach Franklin who rebuilt our football […]
