When Deion Sanders arrived at the University of Colorado ahead of the 2023 college football season, expectations were high-but few anticipated just how dramatic the turnaround would be. In 2022, the Buffaloes finished the season with a dismal 1-11 record. Just a year later, they improved to 4-8-not a winning season, but a clear sign of progress. A leap from 2.8 million to a staggering 100.1 million.

Colorado’s Instagram following exploded by 2,596%, going from 81,000 to over 2.2 million. “I’m my own thermostat-I set and change the temp in the room, the room don’t change me,” Sanders wrote, encapsulating the confidence that has redefined the team’s brand.
A new chapter begins in 2025
Despite the momentum, 2025 will be a pivotal year. The team will move forward without quarterback Shedeur Sanders and star Travis Hunter, both now in the NFL. Receivers LaJohntay Wester and Jimmy Horn Jr. were also drafted, creating big shoes to fill.
Sanders‘ strategy now hinges on his ability to reload through the transfer portal. Since his arrival, the Buffaloes have added over 90 transfers, including Kaidon Salter, a standout quarterback from Liberty, who will lead the offense this season.
Colorado kicks off the new era on Friday, August 29, hosting Georgia Tech-and all eyes will be on “Coach Prime” once again.
