Justin Bieber has caused a stir on social media after sharing a sincere and surprising public apology directed at his wife, Hailey Bieber. The reason: a confession about a hurtful comment he made years ago, related to her now iconic Vogue cover.

The 31-year-old singer recently posted on Instagram a series of photos of Hailey’s new achievement: her appearance on the cover of Vogue, one of the world’s most prestigious fashion magazines. Accompanying the images, he wrote a message in which he reveals that during a heated argument in the past, he told Hailey that she would “never be on the cover of Vogue.”

“This reminds me of when Hailey and I had a big fight,” begins Justin‘s text, which has now been removed from the original post. “I told Hails that she would never be on the cover of Vogue. Ugh, I know, very cruel.”

Justin Bieber admits his mistake

Bieber explained that the comment came from a place of resentment. “I felt so disrespected that I thought, ‘I have to get back at him.’ But I think as we mature, we understand that we don’t help anything when we seek revenge. We just prolong what we really want: intimacy and connection.”

He ended the post with an apology: “So baby, you know it, but forgive me for saying you wouldn’t get a Vogue cover, because I was clearly very wrong.”

The reaction of the public was not long in coming. While some followers applauded Justin’s honesty, others criticized him for airing such a personal and painful moment.

“We all love you, but this caption hurts so much. Hailey deserves a million Vogue covers,” wrote one user. Another was more critical: “I would be furious if I were her… Not because he said it, but because now everyone knows it and she still stayed. No woman deserves that.”

On the other hand, some praised the singer’s transparency: “At least he’s honest and doesn’t paint his relationship as perfect, like many celebrities do on social media. As long as he recognizes his mistakes and seeks to improve… he’s human.”

Hailey Bieber shares details of her life with Justin

In the interview with Vogue, Hailey talked about her life with Justin, the birth of their son Jack Blues on August 23, 2024, and how difficult it has been to go through postpartum under public scrutiny.

“Being postpartum is the most sensitive time I’ve ever been through. Learning a new version of myself is very difficult,” she confessed. She also mentioned that Justin has been a guide in the midst of criticism: “He told me, ‘Trust me, I’ve been through this many times. You’re not going to win. You can’t win.”

Justin, for his part, did not stop praising Hailey in the same Vogue post: “I’ve done a lot of dumb things in my life, but marrying Hailey was the smartest thing I’ve ever done.”

With ups and downs and lessons learned, the couple continues to face life together, now as parents, artists and public figures who are not afraid to show their vulnerability to the world.
