Luiz war seit 2021 in einer Beziehung mit Juve-Star Alisha Lehmann (26). Erst im Sommer wechselte er für eine Ablöse von 51,5 Millionen Euro von Aston Villa nach Italien, um nah bei seiner Ex-Freundin zu sein. Allerdings habe sich das Pärchen Berichten zufolge bereits kurz nach dem Wechsel getrennt.
Während sich die Schweizer Nationalspielerin seit ihrem Wechsel bei Juve richtig gut eingelebt hat und zum Stammpersonal zählt, wird Luiz beim Traditionsklub nicht wirklich glücklich. In der laufenden Saison kam er zwar immerhin in 26 Pflichtspielen zum Einsatz. Allerdings absolvierte er nur 832 Minuten.

Vor wenigen Wochen beschwerte er sich auch öffentlich über seine mangelnde Spielzeit. Luiz: „Warum hat ein teurer Spieler wie ich nicht zwei Spiele hintereinander in diesem Trikot gespielt?“
Und weiter: „Verletzungen haben mich zurückgeworfen, ja. Aber wie lange habe ich auf der Bank gesessen, als ich gesund war? Sehr lange. Diese Verletzungen waren nicht normal.“

Ganz anders die Situation bei seiner Ex-Freundin: Die holte vor Kurzem mit Juventus Turin das Double aus Meisterschaft und Copa Italia (Italienischer Pokal). Und hat mit der Frauen-EM in diesem Sommer noch einen großen Traum. Auch wenn sie bei den letzten beiden Länderspielperioden von Nationaltrainerin Pia Sundhage (65) für die Schweiz nicht nominiert worden war, hat sie die Hoffnung nicht aufgegeben. „Ich bin jemand, der nie aufgibt. Ich trainiere sehr hart und gebe alles dafür, dass ich schlussendlich aufgeboten werde.“
