O Real Madrid decidiu não renovar o contrato do meia Luka Modric, cujo contrato com o time se encerra no final de junho. A decisão partiu da direção do clube — inclusive passando pelo presidente Florentino Pérez — e ainda contrariou a sugestão de Xabi Alonso, provável comandante do clube a partir da próxima temporada, que pediu a extensão de contrato do jogador por mais um ano.
Segundo o jornal português A Bola, o técnico queria a manutenção do jogador por conta de sua experiência (completará 40 anos em setembro) e de sua liderança dentro do elenco, que disputará o Mundial de Clubes em junho.
A direção do clube, porém, decidiu por investir em atletas mais jovens, principalmente no setor de meio-campo. Ainda de acordo com A Bola, há ao menos dois jogadores no radar do clube: Nico Paz, do Como (Itália), e Angelo Stiller, jogador do Stuttgart (Alemanha), esse último sugerido por Toni Kroos, ídolo do clube.

O rejuvenescimento do elenco já foi iniciada. O Bournemouth, da Inglaterra, confirmou no fim de semana o que a imprensa espanhola já dava como certo: a transferência do zagueiro espanhol Dean Huijsen, de 20 anos, para o Real Madrid ao fim da temporada. De acordo com o clube inglês, os merengues pagaram uma cláusula de liberação de 50 milhões de libras esterlinas, equivalente a R$ 378 milhões.
Apesar de ter nascido em Amsterdã, são as cores da Espanha as que defende. O atleta se mudou para o país quando ainda era criança. Ex-jogador da Juventus, Huijsen tem 1,97 metro e completou 20 anos no último mês de abril. Agora, antes de se juntar ao elenco do Real Madrid, que irá disputar a Copa do Mundo de Clubes em junho, nos Estados Unidos, ele disputará seus últimos dois jogos com a camisa do time inglês na Premier League: as partidas contra o Manchester City na terça-feira, assim como duelo contra o Leicester, no próximo dia 25.
No campeonato inglês, o atleta disputou 30 jogos neste ano. O comunicado oficial do Bornemouth divulgado na manhã deste sábado destaca que o atleta “foi fundamental na campanha recorde do clube”, em que fez mais pontos em sua trajetória na competição nacional.
Além de reinar na defesa, Huijsen também tem sua contribuição no ataque, com gols marcados contra Tottenham, Manchester United e Arsenal. Nesta temporada, também vestiu pela primeira vez a camisa da seleção espanhola.
“Todos no AFC Bournemouth estão ansiosos para trabalhar com Dean nos dois últimos jogos da temporada da Premier League, antes que ele embarque no próximo passo de sua carreira”, diz trecho do comunicado.
Após o anúncio do time inglês, o Real Madrid também emitiu um comunicado, em que confirma que o contrato do jovem irá de 1º de junho de 2025 a 30 de junho de 2030.
