Der Hype um den Großen Preis von Monaco – riesig! Das Rennen selbst? Seit Jahren eher langweilig.
Auf den engen Straßen des Fürstentums ist das Überholen kaum möglich. Heißt: Wer das Qualifying am Samstag gewinnt, hat beste Chancen, auch den Grand Prix zu gewinnen.
Seit 1984 gab es im Schnitt zwölf Überholmanöver pro Rennen – der niedrigste Wert im gesamten Rennkalender. Zum Vergleich: Imola liegt auf dem vorletzten Platz (20,7), ganz vorne: Zandvoort (69).
[–>Trotz der Langeweile wurde der Vertrag mit dem legendären Rennen bis 2031 verlängert.
In den vergangenen Jahren waren immer mal wieder bauliche Veränderungen an der Strecke im Gespräch. Scheiterten aber am Veranstalter, dem Automobile Club de Monaco.
Deshalb hat sich die Formel 1 für dieses Wochenende (Rennen am Sonntag um 15 Uhr, Sky live und Liveticker bei BILD.de) etwas Neues einfallen lassen: eine Regel-Revolution!
Für alle Fahrer sind zwei Boxenstopps verpflichtend. Das gab es noch nie.
Einer der Initiatoren war der Red-Bull-Rennstall.
Max Verstappen zur Zwei-Stopp-Regel: „Ein Schritt ins Unbekannte!“
Durch die zwei Stopps die Spannung erhöht werden. Wann die Reifenwechsel während der 78 Runden eingelegt werden, ist den Teams überlassen. BILD weiß: In einigen Rennställen denkt man sogar darüber nach, die Autos gleich in Runde 1 und Runde 2 in die Box zu holen.
