The Dallas Cowboys have said all the right things this offseason. They’re sticking by their current cornerback group, they say. They’re confident in Trevon Diggs’ recovery, even if he’s not expected back until midseason.
But behind the scenes, it seems Dallas might be weighing a very different kind of move.

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported Friday that the Cowboys are among the teams linked to Miami Dolphins star cornerback Jalen Ramsey, who’s officially on the trade block. Fowler listed Dallas, the Rams, and Washington as teams showing interest as Miami looks to unload Ramsey and his massive contract.
Miami’s front office has confirmed the split is coming. GM Chris Grier said this week that both sides “mutually agreed” to part ways – and now it’s just a matter of finding the right fit.

Could Ramsey Be the Missing Piece for Dallas?
It’s easy to see the appeal. Ramsey, a three-time All-Pro, still brings elite coverage skills and veteran swagger to any secondary. But there are also real risks: He’s 30, coming off two knee procedures, and due $24.3 million in 2025.
That price tag alone could be a dealbreaker. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that teams have been hesitant, and Miami may need to eat part of the contract to make something happen. That could work in Dallas’ favor-if they’re serious.
The Cowboys haven’t been splashy in the secondary since trading for Stephon Gilmore last year, and they just added Kaiir Elam from Buffalo and drafted promising rookie Shavon Revel. Still, if Ramsey is truly available and Miami is willing to negotiate, it’s a conversation Dallas might want to keep having.
And if the team believes Ramsey can line up opposite DaRon Bland while Diggs heals, this could be more than just insurance. It could be the spark that pushes the Cowboys over the top in the NFC.
For now, it’s still just talk. But it’s the kind of talk that gets louder – especially when it comes out of ESPN.
