Caitlin Clark‘s skill and talent are undeniable, but in her recent performances with Indiana Fever she has not been shining as usual and this is raising some eyebrows.
In her efforts to lead the team to the top against New York Liberty she missed seven consecutive three-pointers and scored the first of them at the end of the third quarter, with 1:04 left and one to go.

Those were the only two shots Indiana fans could celebrate as Clark closed the game on a 2/11 run and Fever down 88-90. Although Liberty did very well and CC had a double-double of 18 points and 10 assists, they also lost the ball 10 times.
And in the game against Atlanta Dreams where they lost 90-91, Caitlin didn’t make a single three-pointer in the whole game. But the most incredible thing is that this has not happened in CC’s career since she wore the Iowa colors three years ago, in 2022.

The storm over Clark
The truth is that the 22-year-old point guard seems to be going through a rough patch, and with it, the team. And this worries Indiana, fans and analyst Rachel DeMita: “She was missing these threes like we haven’t seen her miss threes” she began, saying she couldn’t figure out if it was mental or if she just had a cold streak.
“It happens with shooters. Like once you get cold and once you get cold for that long, it starts to get mental and you could definitely see it in her body language,” DeMita said.
However, it didn’t end there. Rachel assured that she must find a way out of there and she must do it fast, but she didn’t leave all the burden on Clark’s shoulders, instead she pointed to Stephanie White: “I also would turn to the coaches for this as well, because they also need to figure out what buttons to push with her to help her snap out of it,” she said.
The truth is that CC is coming off her rookie season and is just starting her second with Fever, but we know what she is capable of accomplishing. She has also shown that she is more comfortable with possession than playing without it, so White will have to rethink her moves and Indiana will have to do everything in its power to help CC get back to her ways.
And they will have to do it fast if they want to taste victory next Wednesday, May 28 at CFG Bank Arena, when they face Washington Mystics. A little less than a month ago -on May 3- they managed to beat them 79-74, can they repeat history?
