Schock beim FC Liverpool!
Bei der Meister-Parade der Reds ist am Montagabend ein Auto in die Menschenmenge gerast. Noch ist unklar, wie viele Personen bei dem Zwischenfall verletzt wurden. Der Vorfall geschah, nachdem die Mannschaft mit dem Meister-Pokal auf einem Doppeldecker-Bus durch die Straßen gefahren waren, um sich feiern zu lassen.
Verschiedene Videos zeigen, wie ein dunkler Van in der Water Street in die Menschenmenge fährt. Wütende Fans stürmen daraufhin auf das Fahrzeug zu; mutmaßlich, um den Fahrer am Weiterfahren zu hindern – oder auf ihn loszugehen. Sie schlagen mit den Fäusten und Gegenständen auf das Auto ein. Dann beschleunigt der Fahrer wieder, erfasst erneut mehrere Fans. Als der Wagen schließlich endgültig zum Stehen kommt, umringen mehrere Polizisten das Auto.
Gegenüber dem „Telegraph“ sagte der Augenzeuge Les Winsper (55): „Ich glaube, dass er die Straße hinunterfahren wollte und dabei jemanden angefahren hat. Daraufhin hat die Menge versucht, die Fahrer- und die Beifahrertür zu öffnen. Ich glaube, dass er dann in Panik geraten ist und dann weiter durch die Menge gefahren ist. Die Leute haben geschrieen, Kinder haben geweint. Es war eine furchtbare Szene.“
Fahrer 53-jähriger Brite aus der Gegend um Liverpool
Laut Polizeiangaben passierte der Schock-Vorfall gegen 18 Uhr Ortszeit (19 Uhr MESZ). Zu diesem Zeitpunkt sollen Tausende Fans auf den Straßen der nordenglischen Stadt unterwegs gewesen sein. Der Fahrer des Fahrzeugs wurde festgenommen, wie die Polizei weiter mitteilte. Es soll sich offiziellen Angaben zufolge um einen 53-jährigen „weißen britischen Mann“ aus der Gegend um Liverpool handeln.
Die Zeitung „Mirror“ berichtet unter Berufung auf andere Augenzeugen, der Fahrer sei „absichtlich“ in die Menschenmenge gefahren. Für keine der Theorien gab es seitens der Polizei bisher eine Bestätigung.
Der „Telegraph“ berichtet, dass neben der Merseyside Police, die die Ermittlungen leitet, auch eine Anti-Terror-Einheit beteiligt ist.

Der Rettungsdienst North West Ambulance Service teilte mit: „Wir untersuchen derzeit die Lage und arbeiten mit den Einsatzkräften anderer Rettungsdienste zusammen. Unsere Priorität ist es, dass Menschen so schnell wie möglich die medizinische Hilfe bekommen, die sie brauchen.“
Großbritanniens Premierminister Keir Starmer (62) und Innenministerin Yvette Cooper (56) werden laut der britischen Nachrichtenagentur PA und dem Fernsehsender Sky News ständig über die aktuellen Entwicklungen informiert.

► Die Augenzeugin Natasha Rinaldi sagte gegenüber dem Sender Sky News: „Es war so laut, die Menschen klangen verzweifelt. Dann blickten wir aus dem Fenster und sahen, dass das Auto Menschen überfahren hatte. Die Leute rannten zum Auto und versuchten in das Auto zu gelangen. Die Polizei tat alles, um sie davon abzuhalten.“
► Chelsea Yuen feierte den Titelgewinn mit einer Freundin. Sie sagte gegenüber Sky News: „Wir hörten Schreie, und als wir hochsahen, raste ein Auto direkt auf uns zu. Meine Freundin Francesca und ich sprangen aus dem Weg und zogen ihre kleine Tochter mit uns.“
20. Meistertitel war vorzeitig perfekt
Der FC Liverpool hatte sich bereits am 34. Spieltag (5:1 gegen Tottenham) den Titel in der Premier League gesichert.
Nach dem offiziellen Saisonende am Sonntag feierte die Mannschaft am Montag mit ihren Fans in der City den 20. Meistertitel der Vereinsgeschichte.
