Kevin Stefanski hasn’t revealed who will be the starting quarterback for the Cleveland Browns, but it seems likely that at some point in the season, Shedeur Sanders will outperform Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, and Dillon Gabriel to take the QB1 spot.

With the Browns’ starting quarterback role-whether it’s Sanders, Flacco, Pickett, or Gabriel-comes great responsibility. One of the biggest challenges will be making the most out of a glaring deficiency in offensive weaponry. Despite selecting two quarterbacks in this year’s draft, Cleveland has left a significant gap at wide receiver.

The Browns’ situation at wide receiver should be a major concern for any quarterback in the league-especially for a rookie under intense media scrutiny like Shedeur Sanders. Jerry Jeudy may be his only reliable option, and the fact that the Browns didn’t draft a single wide receiver and signed Diontae Johnson-who played for three different teams last season-is not a promising sign. Worst of all, it doesn’t seem like they’re going to make any more offseason moves at WR.
Cleveland legend Hanford Dixon, a cornerstone of the Browns’ defense in the 1980s, has expressed concern about the team’s current situation. Dixon acknowledges the urgent need for additions to the receiving corps. In his opinion, Stefanski will need to pull out some unexpected strategies to address this glaring issue.
We’ll see what happens, but it’s definitely not an ideal situation for a rookie quarterback in the NFL. The pressure is high, the weapons are limited, and the margin for error is razor-thin. If Shedeur Sanders struggles behind a weak supporting cast, it may not be a reflection of his talent-but it could still cost him the starting role, assuming he earns it in the first place.
