La Noche del Deporte vuelve a Madrid el 7 de junio y este año va a ser más inclusiva que nunca gracias a CaixaBank. La entidad financiera, patrocinadora oficial del Comité Paralímpico Español desde el año 2019 y vinculada al plan ADOP, se convierte en el principal aliado de MARCA y del Ayuntamiento de Madrid para conseguir que el deporte no tenga barreras y que todos puedan practicarlo, independientemente de que tengan una discapacidad o no.

La cita, que tendrá lugar en la Plaza de España desde las 20:00 horas hasta pasada la medianoche, en torno a la 01:00 h, reunirá a estrellas paralímpicas que han sido medallistas en Juegos, Mundiales o Europeos. Judith Rodríguez, bronce en florete en París 2024 y cuyo metal devolvió a la esgrima española al podio paralímpico tras 24 años, dará una Masterclass a los integrantes del Club de Esgrima Tres Cantos, pero también a todo el que quiera acercarse a la céntrica plaza madrileña a conocer su deporte más de cerca.

La gallega competía en esgrima a pie antes de sufrir un accidente de tráfico en 2018 cuando regresaba, precisamente, de un campeonato. Hasta entonces había participado con la selección española junior en dos Mundiales y un Europeo, y con la absoluta en varias Copas del Mundo. Le tuvieron que amputar la pierna derecha y aunque al principio no quería ni oír hablar de la esgrima en silla, en la actualidad es un referente internacional en dos armas: espada y florete. Además de la medalla en sus primeros Juegos Paralímpicos, en su palmarés también figuran dos bronces europeos.

“Tras el accidente, el día que probé en silla fue ponerme la careta de nuevo y volver a sentirme yo. La esgrima me devolvió a la vida”, reconoce. Enamorada de su deporte, anima a todo el mundo a acercarse a la Plaza de España a intentar meter unos tocados en silla o a pie. “Es una gran oportunidad de ver deporte paralímpico de cerca y de acercarlo a la gente”, dice.

Penaltis a ciegas

Porque La Noche del Deporte se presenta, como dice la viguesa, como una oportunidad también para ponerse en la piel de los deportistas con discapacidad. Por eso, en el campo de fútbol que instalaremos se podrán lanzar penaltis a ciegas. Quienes quieran probar tendrán a su disposición un antifaz para taparse los ojos y un balón sonoro (lleva una especie de cascabeles en su interior) y se les dará instrucciones para tratar de batir al portero sin ver.

Estarán acompañados de algunos jugadores ciegos de fútbol-5, deporte en el que España tiene tres bronces en Juegos Paralímpicos (Atenas 2004, Pekín 2008 y Londres 2012). ¿Te atreves a poner a prueba tus sentidos lanzando penaltis sin ver absolutamente nada? Te animamos a probarlo.

Exhibición y 3×3 sobre ruedas

Y no podía faltar uno de los deportes paralímpicos que más tirón tiene y que más espectacular resulta: el baloncesto en silla de ruedas. Se practica en más de 80 países. Este deporte, en el que España ganó la plata paralímpica en los Juegos de Río 2016, estará representado por varios jugadores del Ilunion, el equipo nacional más laureado con 17 títulos de la División de Honor, la máxima categoría en España.

El equipo madrileño, que este fin de semana disputará la Final Four por su decimoctavo título nacional, hará una exhibición. Sus estrellas, medallistas internacionales también con las selecciones de España y Gran Bretaña, acercarán el baloncesto en silla al gran público.

Terry Bywater, Gregg Warburton, Dani Stix, Pablo Poyato, ‘Pincho’ Ortega, Amadou Diallo, Daniel Diaz y Luis Eduardo Jasso desplegarán su mejor baloncesto y harán vibrar a los presentes.

Las reglas del baloncesto en silla de ruedas son prácticamente las mismas que a pie: la cancha tiene las mismas medidas, las canastas están a igual altura y el sistema de puntuación es idéntico. También, en este caso, quienes se acerquen a la Plaza de España podrán tratar de encestar desde la silla.

El abanderado español

Y uno de los deportes más inclusivos que existe es el tenis de mesa. Varios componentes de la selección nacional paralímpica harán una exhibición en la Plaza de España. También estará presente Álvaro Valera, que fue más de una década número 1 del mundo en su categoría, ganó seis medallas en Juegos (1 oro, 3 platas y 2 bronces) y fue abanderado en París 2024 junto con la judoca Marta Arce.
