La nueva España de Andrea Fuentes suma sus dos primeras medallas en el Europeo de natación artística que se celebra en Funchal (Portugal). El dúo técnico femenino, formado por Txell Ferré y Lilou Lluis, se colgó la plata en el estreno de la competición. Minutos después, Dennis González y Mireia Hernández reeditaron el oro en el dúo técnico mixto que ya lograron en Belgrado en 2024.
Tras el buen papel del combinado español en las Copas del Mundo desde la llegada de Andrea Fuentes hace nueve meses (ha subido al podio 20 veces entre las tres citas disputadas en París, Somabay en Egipto y Markham en Canadá), llega el test continental, previo al Mundial de Singapur de julio. España participa en Funchal en las 11 pruebas que componen la competición.
En el dúo técnico mixto, Dennis González y Mireia Hernández dieron muestra de su gran nivel. Fueron los primeros en saltar a la piscina. Sumaron 216,1967 puntos (122,2217 en elementos y 93,9750 en impresión artística con -1,83 de penalización).
Los británicos Isabelle Thorpe (plata en los Juegos de París junto a Kate Shortman) y Ranjuo Tomblin fueron plata con 214.9441. Superaron a los españoles en los elementos (124,0691) pero flaquearon en los elementos (90,8750) con una penalización de -1,97. El bronce fue para los italianos Filippo Pelati y Lucrezia Ruggiero con 205,9059 puntos (114,9809+ 90,9250 y -2.10 de penalización).
En el dúo técnico femenino, Txell Ferré y Lilou Lluís, que ya habían sido oro y plata en las pruebas de la Copa del Mundo disputadas en París y en Markham (Canadá), se colgaron la plata al llegar hasta los 282,1017 puntos (163,6517 en elementos y 118,4500 en impresión artística, con una penalización de -2,57). Bajo los acordes de la canción ‘Ex’s & Oh’s’ se colocaron primeras a falta de cinco parejas por salir a la piscina.
Las hermanas austriacas Anna-María y Eirini Marina Alexandri fueron las siguientes y arrebataron el oro a las españolas al llegar a los 301,8800 puntos (180,3300+ 121,5500 y -2,20 de penalización).
Nadie más superó la valoración recibida por Ferré y Lluís. Las francesas Anastasia Bayandina y Romane Lunel se quedaron con el bronce al sumar 278,0242 puntos (164.5742+113.4500 y -2.70 de penalización).
