Las gentes de Elche celebraron en 2025 como no pudo hacerlo en 2020. La ciudad de las palmeras se echó a las calles este lunes para festejar que su equipo ascendió a Primera división de la mano de Eder Sarabia. Un éxito logrado tras golear al Dépor en la última jornada, con más de 2.000 aficionados desplazados a La Coruña. Supone la vuelta a la élite de los franjiverdes dos años después y la celebración de un ascenso cinco años más tarde del último. En aquel entonces, el COVID-19 redujo a lo mínimo los actos festivos. Pero esta vez, se desató la locura.
No cabía un alfiler en las calles para celebrar el ascenso a Primera División
El júbilo ya comenzó el domingo por la noche, en la Glorieta, lugar tradicional de celebración, hasta los topes tras el final del partido. Y con el recibimiento a la expedición en el Martínez Valero, ya de madrugada. Y el lunes, se produjo la rúa por la ciudad que tenía previsto acabar con la fiesta del ascenso dentro del Martínez Valero. A partir de las 19:30 horas, el autobús descapotable con jugadores, cuerpo técnico y miembros del club comenzó su itinerario y fue recorriendo las calles principales de la ciudad. Durante el trayecto, que duró dos horas, miles y miles de aficionados, ataviados de camisetas, bufandas y banderas y demás elementos del equipo, celebraron con los suyos.
La hinchada del Elche generó un ambientazo incluso superior al del último ascenso prepandemia, a Segunda división en 2018; y al antepenúltimo a la élite, en 2013. Posiblemente, toda la gente que festejó durante el trayecto no cabría en el Martínez Valero. En el autobús descapotable, el delegado franjiverde, Juan Sánchez Niñoles, hizo de principal animador. Micrófono en mano, inició los cánticos “a Primera oé”, “Herculano el que no bote” y “Adiós a Segunda, adiós”. Y también la frase “hemos vuelto”, lema de las camisetas conmemorativas del ascenso.
Después de dos horas de recorrido, la expedición llegó a una abarrotada plaza del Ayuntamiento y en la Plaça de Baix fueron recibidos como héroes. En el balcón, el técnico Eder Sarabia agarró el micrófono para dirigirse a las masas: “Soñábamos con este momento. Esto sólo lo genera el fútbol. Gracias a todos vosotros por lo que hemos vivido. Ha valido la pena venir a este maravilloso club. Conseguimos algo muy grande. Esto es para todos vosotros. Vamos a ir a por el Barça y el Madrid con todo“, dijo el vasco, quien también tuvo palabras de agradecimiento para su plantilla y staff.
Por su parte, el propietario franjiverde Christian Bragarnik fue uno de los coreados por la afición. “El camino elegido y la manera de recorrerlo hace que se nos reconozca más en todo el mundo”, dijo el representante argentino, quien mostró su predisposición a las renovaciones de Sarabia y Josan, que acaban contrato.

Josan, Bigas y San Román también resultaron de los futbolistas más aclamados. Y, por supuesto, el central Affengruber, quien con su acento austríaco, se arrancó con el “Som, som, som de Primera divisió”. Además, el público congregado gritó “Nico quédate”, pidiendo que no se venda a Nico Fernández Mercau. Y, por supuesto, la afición franjiverde entonó el “Aromas Ilicitanos”, como antes de cada partido en el Martínez Valero.
Y a las 22.20 horas, todavía con muchos aficionados en las calles, la expedición franjiverde regresó al autobús para enfilar ya hacia el Martínez Valero. El estadio ilicitano, que la próxima temporada acogerá partidos de la máxima categoría, fue el escenario que puso el colofón a la gran fiesta del ascenso a Primera división.
