Russell Wilson hasn’t quite found his footing since leaving Seattle Seahawks in 2022.
After a disappointing two-year stint with the Denver Broncos and a short run as the starting quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers last season, the former Pro Bowler is now headed to his fourth NFL team in five seasons: the New York Giants.

The decision raised eyebrows across the league. Why the Giants? Why not a more stable situation – or even a reunion with former coach Pete Carroll in Las Vegas? According to Wilson, the answer came down to one rising star: wide receiver Malik Nabers.
“I just turned on the film and watched this guy Malik Nabers,” Wilson said on the 7PM in Brooklyn with Carmelo Anthony podcast. “This dude is a superstar. I saw him, watching the film before I tried to make a decision… He’s dynamic. He touches that football, he’s gone.”
Nabers enjoyed a promising rookie season in New York
Nabers made a big impression in New York last season despite chaos at the quarterback position, including the midseason release of Daniel Jones.
The LSU product hauled in 109 receptions for 1,204 yards and seven touchdowns-numbers that are hard to ignore, especially for a veteran quarterback looking for reliable weapons.
Wilson joins a crowded quarterback room in New York that includes fellow veteran Jameis Winston and rookie Jaxson Dart, whom the Giants selected in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft.
With Deshaun Watson not re-signed and the Giants seeking stability at QB, all three are likely to compete for the starting role.
Despite his recent struggles, Wilson brings a proven track record. In his 10 seasons with the Seahawks, he threw for over 37,000 yards, 292 touchdowns, and 87 interceptions, finishing with a 101.8 passer rating. Last season with the Steelers, he managed 2,482 yards, 16 touchdowns, and five interceptions while leading the team to a 6-5 record as a starter.
Now in New York, Wilson is hoping that linking up with a young star like Nabers will help revitalize his career. Whether he can rise to the occasion in his new home remains to be seen-but it’s clear he believes he has a special connection waiting in the Giants’ receiving corps.

Joseph Parker's promoter David Higgins has questioned Oleksandr Usyk's injury amid a stand-off in fight negotiations.Usyk, the undisputed world heavyweight champion, has requested an extension to the deadline for talks for a WBO mandatory title fight against Parker due to an injury. Head Coach: Kyle Shanahan (ninth season) PFF projected win total: 10.0 2024 Record: 6-11 (fourth in NFC West) Biggest Strength: Offensive Star Power When healthy — a big caveat of late — the 49ers have as much offensive firepower as any NFL team. Brock Purdy is an above-average starting quarterback. Christian McCaffrey was the best running back in the NFL in 2023. Brandon Aiyuk, Jauan Jennings and Ricky Pearsall comprise a solid group of young wide receivers. George Kittle is the best tight end in the NFL, and the offensive line is a solid unit headlined by Trent Williams and Dominick Puni. If McCaffrey, Aiyuk and Williams, in particular, are healthy, the 49ers still have a dangerous offensive unit.
