The expert feels a fresh Sovereignty, who was held out of the Preakness, will be too much for Journalism to overcome. The distance also favors Sovereignty, since he was able to win the duel with Journalism at the Kentucky Derby, which is the same length as this year’s Belmont. Due to construction, the race was moved from Belmont Park to Saratoga Race Track for the second consecutive year.
The Belmont Park track is 1.5 miles, while Saratoga Race track is 1.25 miles. Journalism has run most of his races at shorter tracks.
