O Mundial de Clubes da FIFA foi uma das competições de futebol mais importantes da história. Realizado entre 2000 e 2023, o torneio reunia os campeões das ligas continentais: UEFA Champions League, Libertadores, Champions Asiática, Africana, da Concacaf e Oceania. Assim, apenas os melhores times do planeta disputavam essa copa exclusiva.
O Brasil é o segundo país que mais enviou clubes ao Mundial de Clubes. De 2000 para cá, os times brasileiros conquistaram a Libertadores 14 vezes, e ganharam o direito de participar do campeonato mundial. Assim, apresentamos os clubes que representaram nosso país para todo o mundo ver.
Eixo Rio-São Paulo domina a lista
Na lista de quais times brasileiros já disputaram o Mundial de Clubes, temos os clubes do eixo Rio-São Paulo dominando. Com maiores investimentos ao longo do tempo e atraindo os melhores jogadores, essas equipes já participaram do torneio pelo menos uma vez. Com exceção do Botafogo, que foi campeão da Libertadores em 2024, mas o Mundial já não existia mais (foi substituído pelo Intercontinental).

Cariocas no Mundial de Clubes – 4 participações
Assim, no Rio de Janeiro apenas Flamengo, Fluminense e Vasco podem dizer que já disputaram o Mundial de Clubes da FIFA. Porém, nenhum deles venceu o torneio. O Rubro-Negro esteve na competição em 2019, quando perdeu para o Liverpool na final. Já em 2022, o Urubu não passou da semifinal, sendo eliminado pelo Al-Hilal.
O Fluzão participou em 2023, e também foi à decisão, mas acabou tomando uma goleada de 4 a 0 do Manchester City. O Cruzmaltino foi outro carioca que chegou à finalíssima do Mundial de Clubes, mas acabou derrotado pelo Corinthians nos pênaltis.
Paulistas no Mundial de Clubes – 6 participações
O estado de São Paulo é o que mais enviou clubes ao Mundial, com Corinthians e Palmeiras liderando esse ranking. Inclusive, o Timão foi o primeiro campeão do torneio organizado pela FIFA, em 2000, sobre o Vasco. Depois voltou a levantar a taça em 2012, após final disputadíssima contra o Chelsea que consagrou nomes como Cássio e Guerrero.
Enquanto isso, o Palmeiras também disputou o Mundial de Clubes da FIFA duas vezes, em 2020 e 2021, após vencer duas Libertadores seguidas. Na primeira oportunidade, o Verdão acabou eliminado precocemente pelo Al-Ahly ainda na semifinal. Mas um ano depois, o time de Abel Ferreira passou pelos egípcios e conseguiu levar a final contra o Chelsea para a prorrogação, perdendo por 2 a 1.
O São Paulo também jogou o Mundial de Clubes representando o estado em 2005, sendo campeão contra o Liverpool na final. Os torcedores até hoje se lembram da defesa de Rogério Ceni na cobrança de falta de Gerrard. Lance que é símbolo de uma época vencedora que parece distante em meio à crise no Tricolor. Já o Santos jogou o campeonato em 2011, protagonizando o confronto entre Neymar e Messi na final contra o Barcelona que acabou em derrota por 4 a 0.
Outros times brasileiros já disputaram o Mundial de Clubes
Fora do eixo Rio-São Paulo temos poucos clubes que disputaram o Mundial de Clubes da FIFA. Apenas três equipes de outros estados no Brasil tiveram o privilégio de disputar entre os maiores do mundo. O Internacional é o principal nome dentre esse seleto grupo, tendo jogado duas vezes. Já o arquirrival do Colorado, o Grêmio, disputou uma vez apenas, assim como o Atlético-MG.

Participações do Internacional no Mundial de Clubes
O Internacional foi para o Mundial de Clubes da FIFA duas vezes, tendo atuações distintas em ambos os anos. Em 2006, o Inter disputou o torneio em alto nível, indo à final contra o Barcelona de Ronaldinho Gaúcho (que estava no seu auge). A estratégia colorada deu certo, e Adriano Gabiru marcou o gol que selou a vitória por 1 a 0 e o título mundial na conta. Mas em 2010, sobrou decepção para a torcida. Ainda na semifinal, o time acabou eliminado para o modesto Mazembe, do Congo, e deu adeus ao sonho do bi.
Grêmio vai à final, mas Atlético-MG passa vexame
O Grêmio, arquirrival do Inter, foi ao Mundial de Clubes em 2017 e jogou com inteligência. Venceu o Pachuca na semifinal por 1 a 0 e se classificou para a decisão contra o Real Madrid, que tinha um dos melhores times da história. Aquele elenco dos Merengues ficou na história por conquistar a Champions League três vezes seguidas, o que mostrava o tamanho do desafio para o Tricolor Imortal. Mas o Grêmio competiu na decisão, e perdeu apenas por 1 a 0, escapando de um resultado largo contra um time que contava com Cristiano Ronaldo no auge.
Já o Atlético-MG estava na sua melhor safra, com Ronaldinho, Bernard e Tardelli comandando o futebol mais bonito do país naquela altura. Havia expectativa de enfrentar o Bayern de Munique de Robben e Ribery, mas a semifinal foi cruel com o Galo. Após golaço de falta de Ronaldinho, o modesto Raja Casablanca virou o jogo e ainda venceu por 3 a 1, deixando o Alvinegro com um vexame na mala.
