Zubimendi zu spanischen Medien über einen möglichen Wechsel in der anstehenden Transferperiode: „Natürlich gibt es Optionen, aber es ist wahr, dass es aussieht, als würde es ein langer, ungewöhnlicher Sommer werden und ich weiß nicht, wie er enden wird. Ich denke, es ist im Moment nicht meine Priorität, darüber nachzudenken. Ich bin hier bei der Nationalmannschaft, was ohnehin schon anspruchsvoll ist, und wenn ich etwas zu sagen habe, werde ich es sagen.“

Mit der spanischen Nationalmannschaft absolviert Zubimendi am Donnerstag (5. Juni, 21 Uhr, ARD/DAZN und auf sportbild.de im Live-Ticker) das Nations-League-Halbfinale in Stuttgart gegen Frankreich. Am Sonntagabend (21 Uhr) wird in München das Endspiel ausgetragen – dort würde Spanien bei einem Sieg auf Deutschland oder Portugal treffen.
Auf die Frage, ob Alonso sich bei ihm gemeldet und bezüglich eines Wechsels zu Real kontaktiert habe, antwortet Zubimendi: „Ich habe immer gesagt, dass er mein Idol war und dass ich Glück hatte, dass er mich in einem sehr wichtigen Jahr im Reserveteam trainiert hat. In der anschließenden Saison stieß ich zur ersten Mannschaft. Ich mag es nicht, über diese Hypothesen zu sprechen. Ich rede lieber über die aktuelle Situation, weil ich denke, dass es respektlos wäre, darauf vom Trainingsgelände der Nationalmannschaft vor so einem wichtigen Wettbewerb zu antworten.“
Zubimendi schwärmt von seinem Idol!
Von 2019 bis 2022 war Alonso Trainer von Real Sociedad B, ehe er zu Leverkusen wechselte. In der Saison 2019/2020 spielte Zubimendi unter seiner Führung in der 2. Mannschaft von Real Sociedad, ehe er im Sommer 2020 zum ersten Team aufstieg.

Zubimendi hat sich zu einem begehrten Mittelfeldspieler entwickelt, ist Nationalspieler (15 Einsätze) und Europameister. Sein Marktwert beträgt laut transfermarkt.de 60 Millionen Euro. Er soll eine Ausstiegsklausel in Höhe von ebendieser Summer in seinem Vertrag haben.
Am 10. Mai berichtete Transfer-Experte Fabrizio Romano, dass Zubimendi und Arsenal sich mündlich geeinigt hätten und der Londoner Klub seine Ausstiegsklausel zieht. Angeblich sollte der Transfer in den nächsten Wochen vollzogen werden. Doch bisher ist der Deal noch nicht offiziell – und Zubimendis zurückhaltenden Äußerungen sprechen nicht dafür, dass sein Wechsel zu Arsenal dicht bevorsteht.
Grätscht also Alonso dazwischen? Der Ex-Leverkusen-Trainer soll fürs Mittelfeld aber auch VfB-Star Angelo Stiller (24) auf dem Zettel haben. Der deutsche Nationalspieler soll laut spanischen Medien Real Madrids Transferziel Nummer 1 sein. Stiller hat in seinem Vertrag eine Ausstiegsklausel über 36 Mio. Euro verankert, allerdings greift diese erst ab 2026. UND: Der VfB kann Veto einlegen, Stiller diese Klausel für zwei Mio. Euro abkaufen.
Zudem bestehe bei Real immer noch die Hoffnung auf Man-City-Superstar Rodri (28). Der Weltfußballer hat beim Premier-League-Klub noch einen Vertrag bis 2027. Spätestens im kommenden Sommer erhoffen sich die Bosse, ihn für einen passenden Preis bekommen zu können – oder dann spätestens 2027 ablösefrei.

Liverpool and Newcastle have agreed a British-record transfer for Alexander Isak.Sky Sports News understands Liverpool will pay a fixed fee of £125m for the striker, who is now expected to complete his move to Anfield on Deadline Day.
