Dieser Abstiegskampf wird zum erbarmungslosen Nervenkrimi.

Der TVB Stuttgart stand nach dem Bietigheim-Sieg am Mittwoch in Leipzig im Schwaben-Derby bei Frisch Auf Göppingen gewaltig unter Druck. Und sie verlieren womöglich folgenschwer, geben den Punktgewinn ZWEI Sekunden vor Spielende aus der Hand!

Durch die 27:28-Niederlage rutscht der TVB vor dem letzten Spieltag in der Daikin Handball-Bundesliga auf den Abstiegsplatz, ist jetzt Tabellen-17. Ausgerechnet durch eine bittere Derby-Pleite bei den schon geretteten Göppingern droht nach zehn Jahren der Gang in die Zweitklassigkeit.

Dass es hier heiß hergehen wird, wird schon vor Anwurf klar. Auf der Tribüne der EWS Arena entrollen beide Fanlager Blockfahnen. Die Heimfans sind zudem mit einer grünen oder weißen Fahne ausgestattet. Dazu wird für die Spieler beim Einlaufen ein Spalier aus Fackelträgern und Feuerfontänen gebildet. Die „Hölle Süd“ bebt!

Eine meisterliche Atmosphäre, doch für die Gäste geht’s rein ums sportliche Überleben.

Er lässt seinen Worten schon nach drei Minuten Taten folgen und legt sich direkt mal mit Gegenspieler Ymir Örn Gislason an – Rudelbildung! Die beiden Streithähne kassieren jeweils eine Zwei-Minuten-Strafe.

Danach übernimmt Frisch Auf das Zepter, führt nach elf Minuten mit 9:5. Bei 14:9 nach 18 Minuten nimmt TVB-Trainer Jürgen Schweikardt die Auszeit, ermahnt seine Jungs: „Werdet in der Abwehr nicht zu offensiv!“ Die Ansage fruchtet, bis zur Pause kassiert der TVB nur noch vier Gegentore.

Das große Problem: Die eigene Offensive klemmt auch gewaltig. Zur Halbzeit steht’s 18:13. Die Luft wird dünn für den TVB. Nicht nur in diesem Spiel, sondern auch in der Tabelle. Erst recht, als Göppingen nach dem Wechsel auf 20:13 davonzieht. Das war’s wohl. Oder doch nicht?

Die Gäste legen einen 5:0-Lauf hin, sind nach 40 Minuten plötzlich wieder auf zwei dran. 15 Minuten vor Schluss ist es nur noch einer (22:21), doch Daniel Fernandez vergibt bei Tempogegenstoß die Riesenchance zum Ausgleich – Bart Ravensbergen im Göppinger Kasten pariert mit dem Fuß.

[–>Doch das ist nur der Anfang einer brutalen Schlussphase, die wirklich alles hat! Der TVB beißt, Torwart Vujovic vernagelt das Tor, liefert 15 Paraden und eine Fangquote von wahnsinnigen 52 Prozent. Er allein bringt sein Team in die Nähe des nicht mehr für möglich gehaltenen Punktgewinns.

Und danach sieht es aus, als Max Häfner sieben Sekunden vor Schluss die Kugel durch die Beine von Ravensbergen zum 27:27 ins Tor nagelt. Irre! Göppingen-Coach Ben Matschke nimmt die Auszeit. Sechs Sekunden auf der Uhr, Zeit für einen allerletzten Angriff. Matschke sagt den Spielzug an. Die Göppinger werden doch nicht… sie werden! Gislason spielt im Mittelkreis kurz auf Newel, der auf Persson, der auf den einlaufenden Sarac, noch zwei Sekunden auf der Uhr – TOR! Der Rest ist Jubel in Grün und Weiß.

Davon müssen sich die Stuttgarter nun erstmal erholen, um den Klassenerhalt doch noch zu schaffen. Fakt ist: In der eigenen Hand haben sie es nach diesem Last-Second-Irrsinn im Derby nicht mehr.
