Every day we get closer to August 30, 2025, when the Texas Longhorns will face the current college football champions, the Ohio State Buckeyes. That day, all eyes will be on Texas’ new quarterback – Arch Manning will kick off a new era in the NCAA.

Although Steve Sarkisian, head coach of the Texas Longhorns, hasn’t made it official, everyone knows Arch Manning will be the program’s starting quarterback after spending a couple of years waiting behind Quinn Ewers, who is now in the NFL with the Miami Dolphins. During that time, Manning had only two starts, in which he showed great potential while stepping in for an injured Ewers.
Arch Manning took advantage of Ewers’ injuries and, as mentioned, started two games and participated in a total of 10, recording nine touchdowns and two interceptions, completing 67.8% of his passes.

His time to shine in the NCAA has arrived
There’s no doubt that Texas is the capital of football – not just because of the major NCAA programs in the state, but also because it’s home to the most talked-about NFL team, the Dallas Cowboys. The Longhorns might also be the most famous college team, and now they’ll be led by a 20-year-old.
Arch Manning understands how difficult the journey to this moment has been: “Yes, it was tough. It’s tough in this day and age. But I think – I hope – it will be worth it,” says Manning. “There’s no other place I’d rather be. I want to be in Texas. I have friends here. I love this place. I want to be the quarterback at the University of Texas. Sometimes, it’s worth the wait.”
On the other hand, Steve Sarkisian is excited to have someone like Arch Manning leading the program. A few weeks ago, he spoke on a podcast with Colt McCoy about his new quarterback, who is already a figure of the Texas Longhorns.
“This kid has charisma,” said Sarkisian. “You can feel it. And that’s not a knock on Quinn. Everyone leads differently. But Arch has something that draws others in. And that’s always a good trait in a quarterback.”
One issue that has been raised about Sarkisian is whether Arch Manning is truly ready for the tough moments. Longhorns fans are known for being hard on players – especially one with such high expectations as Manning.
“Of course he is!” Sarkisian affirmed. “That’s something I’ve learned. You can’t ride the emotional roller coaster. You have to stay steady. Winning is great. Losing isn’t, but you have to keep the same mindset.”
