Ein Transfer von Leverkusen-Superstar Florian Wirtz zum FC Liverpool scheint nur noch eine Frage der Zeit. Spieler und Klub sind sich längst einig, auch bei der Länge des Vertrags bis 2030. Auch nähern sich Liverpool und Leverkusen bei der Ablösesummer immer weiter an. Der Mega-Deal wird wohl bald perfekt sein.
Ex-Superstar Philipp Lahm (41) begrüßt den Schritt von Nationalspieler Wirtz in die englische Premier League zu Liverpool. In einem Beitrag für das britische Portal „The Athletic“ schreibt der langjährige Bayern-Spieler und Weltmeister von 2014: „Das Spielsystem dort bietet Tempo, vertikale Ausrichtung und eine klare Rollenverteilung im Team, die ihm gut liegen sollten.“
Lahm: Was Wirtz unbedingt verbessern muss
Anders als beim FC Bayern? Wirtz hatte den Münchner abgesagt, wollte lieber zu den „Reds“. Damit kommt es auch nicht zur Vereinigung mit Nationalmannschaftskollege Jamal Musiala (22) bei den Bayern.
Lahm vergleicht die beiden deutschen Ausnahme-Könner: „Musiala ist eher verspielt. Er ist wie eine Katze mit einem Wollknäuel. Er variiert auch mehr seine Positionen. Er spielt beschwingt, wenn auch nicht immer so zielstrebig.“
[–>Und weiter: „Im Gegensatz dazu will Wirtz nicht nur am Angriffsspiel beteiligt sein, er will der entscheidende Teil davon sein. Er ist geradliniger und klarer im Kopf. Er wartet ab, wählt seine Momente und kann das Tempo eines Spiels mit einer Berührung oder einem Pass verändern.“
Beide könnten den deutschen Fußball auf Jahre hin prägen. Doch beide sind immer noch in der Entwicklung.
Wo muss Wirtz sich noch verbessern? Lahm: „Meiner Meinung nach ist Wirtz besser darin, Situationen entstehen zu lassen. Allerdings muss er körperlich robuster werden.“
Der Ex-Star erklärt: „Gegen Atlético Madrid in dieser Saison oder gegen Atalanta im Europa-League-Finale 2024 hat er erfahren, was es heißt, wenn ein Gegner jede Sekunde hinter ihm her ist. Er mochte die Manndeckung nicht, aber Robustheit ist in der Premier League und der Champions League eine Voraussetzung.“

Und: „Wirtz muss auch lernen, mit dem Druck umzugehen, der in Liverpool viel stärker sein wird als jemals in Leverkusen. Die Kritik an seiner Leistung in der Nationalmannschaft gegen Portugal am Mittwoch hat bereits begonnen. Er hat noch nicht einmal unterschrieben!“
