Blamage für die Azzurri!
Italiens Fußball-Nationalmannschaft kassierte am Freitagabend in der WM-Qualifikation eine bittere 0:3-Pleite in Norwegen. Die Tore von Sørloth (14.), Nusa (34.) und Haaland (42.) besiegelten die vierte sieglose Partie in Folge für Trainer Luciano Spalletti (66) und seine Mannschaft.
Torwart-Star Gianluigi Donnarumma (26) war fassungslos: „Eine inakzeptable Niederlage. Wir sind Italien, wir können solche Spiele nicht so bestreiten. Ich kann nicht erklären, was passiert ist. Unsere Fans verdienen solche Spiele nicht.“
Die italienische Presse teilt diese Einschätzung – und geht noch härter mit ihrer Elf ins Gericht. Die „Gazzetta dello Sport“ warnt: „Es besteht die Gefahr, dass unsere WM-Quali zu Ende ist, bevor sie überhaupt begonnen hat. Die Nationalmannschaft, die wir gestern in Oslo gesehen haben, war peinlich, und es ist nur legitim, an allem zu zweifeln und auf das Schlimmste gefasst zu sein.“ Die Zeitung spricht von „Schande“ und erinnert daran, dass Norwegen, aktuell auf Platz 38 der Weltrangliste, Italien (Platz acht) weit hinter sich ließ.
„Corriere della Sport“ kritisiert: „Wir haben gute Spieler, es sind die Exzellenten, die fehlen, die italienische Mutter bringt sie nicht mehr hervor.“ Und weiter: „Das Problem ist, dass wir die letzten beiden WM-Turniere verpasst haben und uns eine dritte Niederlage nicht leisten können. Hunderttausende Italiener, die nicht älter als 18 Jahre sind, haben die Azzurri noch nie bei einer WM gesehen.“
„La Repubblica“ beschreibt die Situation als „hässlich und verloren, acht Jahre lang nur Versprechungen.“ Die „Corriere della Serra“ spricht von einer „Albtraumnacht in Norwegen“ und warnt vor den kommenden Gegnern: „Wir sind so schlecht, dass wir Moldau (Platz 154), Estland (121) und vor allem Israel (78) nicht unterschätzen dürfen.“
