When Paige Bueckers entered the WNBA as one of the most hyped rookies in recent memory, expectations were sky-high. From UConn standout to Dallas Wings sensation, every move she makes is under a microscope-on and off the hardwood. But this time, it wasn’t a flashy assist or a game-saving steal that had fans buzzing. It was a sideline moment, a flash of awareness, and a subtle exchange that hinted at something off.
While sitting courtside next to her new bestie and teammate DiJonai Carrington, Bueckers caught something strange happening in the stands. It wasn’t just a glance-she clearly noticed something that didn’t sit right. Leaning toward Carrington, Paige shared what she saw, and DiJonai’s quick reaction made it clear that whatever was going on wasn’t just small talk. The two locked in on the disturbance, visibly unsettled for a few seconds as the game continued around them.

Some even joked that Paige was trying to keep DiJonai low-key while scoping out the situation-but subtlety clearly isn’t their thing.
Regardless of what happened, it’s clear these two have a connection that goes beyond basketball. And for a struggling Dallas team, that’s a spark worth holding onto.
Dallas struggles without Paige-but hope isn’t lost
Unfortunately, fans won’t get to see more of those iconic Bueckers-Carrington moments-at least not for a few more games. Bueckers has been sidelined with a concussion, and her absence has been felt deeply. In the six games she played before the injury, Paige averaged 14.7 points, 6.7 assists, and 4.5 rebounds, shooting an efficient 43.7% from the field. Since she’s been out, the Wings have dropped all three games and now sit at a painful 1-8.
The next shot for Bueckers to return is June 11, when Dallas faces the Phoenix Mercury. Until then, the Wings will try to hang on-and fans will be watching for any courtside glimpses of their rookie star keeping her head in the game, even from the bench. Because when Paige Bueckers sees something-on the court or off-you better believe it’s worth paying attention to.
