G League, Next Gen players union announce CBA
The NBA G League Western Conference, left, and G League Championship trophies were on display at the Adventist Health Arena for a celebration event for the Kings’ win in the NBA G League Championship. The NBA's G League has come to an agreement with the Next Gen Basketball Players Union (NGBPU) on a collective bargaining agreement, the two sides announced Wednesday. The new CBA is scheduled to begin at tip off of the 2025-26 season and run for four years, through 2029. Notably, it represents a historic first, becoming the first multi-year CBA over the course of the G League's 25-year history. Though some specifics remain unsettled, the agreement provides an opt-out to both sides following the 2027-28 season, and provides for built in salary raises for players over the course of the deal, 4.7% (to $45,000) in Year 1, […]

Breece Hall Trade Destinations: New York Jets Trade Candidates
Dec 1, 2024; East Rutherford, New Jersey, USA; New York Jets running back Breece Hall (20) runs with the ball during the first quarter against the Seattle Seahawks at MetLife Stadium. Mandatory Credit: Mark Smith-Imagn Images The New York Jets have reached a point in the season where losing games might be more beneficial to them. There isn’t one reason why the Jets have been so bad this year. The whole team could really use a fresh coat of paint. Since the team is re-entering its never-ending rebuild, Breece Hall’s name has begun to pop up far more often in trade rumors. Hall is currently on the final year of his rookie contract, and with how this season has gone for New York, I’d be shocked to see him back on the Jets next year. Fortunately for Hall, he’s probably […]

Steelers vs. Bengals Thursday Night Football Week 7 Betting Predictions
The Cincinnati Bengals will host the Pittsburgh Steelers in a divisional matchup on Thursday. The Steelers are leading the AFC North with a 4-1 record through five games. The Bengals are shockingly sitting in second, posting a 2-4 record thus far. Pittsburgh’s been one of the biggest surprises in the NFL this season. They currently rank ninth in the league in points (.436) per play. They also feature an elite defense, ranking fifth in points allowed (.311) per play. The Steelers have a +2.4 point average scoring margin this season. Cincinnati is dealing with key injuries, and they’ve struggled to find any success in 2025. They rank 25th in points (.313) per play, and that total has unsurprisingly dipped since the injury to Joe Burrow. They aren’t better defensively, ranking 27th in points allowed (.458) per play. Overall, the Bengals […]

MLS Used AI To Write Match Recaps and It Went as Badly as You’d Expect
Never underestimate Major League Soccer’s ability to use technology stupidly. It took two full years partnering with Apple TV to realize it should harness the relationship to provide viewers with more matches to watch, not fewer. And while MLS was an early adopter of VAR, it has still dragged its feet on using virtual offside lines, semi-automated offsides systems or goal-line technology. Then came this weekend, as the league website began publishing match recaps written by Artificial Intelligence without any editorial oversight. It went about as poorly as you'd expect. Full disclosure: I worked as a freelance contributor for the site, mlssoccer.com, for the better part of a decade until 2022. There was predictable (and justified) outrage among the league’s underserved fans and undercompensated human journalists. In particular, longtime FC Cincinnati beat writer Laurel Pfahler correctly pointed out how far short […]

NBA Free Agency Watch: Where the Last Remaining Players Could Sign Before Opening Night
With the NBA season tipping off in just one week, we still have multiple free agents looking to find homes.Russell Westbrook finally found his home in Sacramento with the Kings. That’s certainly an interesting pairing, and one I don’t see working out. There are still plenty of available options to fill out the final open roster spots in the league. From veterans looking to squeeze out one more year, to young players looking to get a second chance, or even players dealing with interesting legal situations… looking at you, Malik Beasley. Let’s find some landing spots for a few remaining free agents. Kai Jones — Age 25: 5.0 PTS, 3.1 REB, 0.6 AST Jones is a very interesting player. He’s had his share of off-court battles, but he seems to be in the right headspace to prove he is a […]
