Der Torschützenkönig der Zweitliga-Saison (22 Treffer) wurde nicht nur wegen seiner Treffsicherheit zum Gesprächspartner. Selke bringt Gewinner-Mentalität auf den Platz und in die Kabine. Unbedingter Siegeswille, Fokussierung auf das Wesentliche, Aggressivität und Klarheit – davon hatte Aufsteiger HSV profitiert. Und genau daran fehlte es RB zuletzt.
Ungeachtet dessen, wie sehr die Gespräche mit Selke vertieft wurden, zeigt der Gedankengang, wie die Sachsen den Kader nach dem XXL-Umbruch zusammenstellen wollen. Gesucht werden auch Korsettstangen mit Mentalität, die eine Mannschaft antreiben können. Daher war intern auch Fabian Reese (27) ein Thema. Klar ist: Der Sommer wird lang. Mit Abgängen der Stars wie Benjamin Sesko (22) oder Xavi Simons (22) sowie der älteren Spieler wie Yussuf Poulsen (30) oder Lukas Klostermann (28) rechnet man intern erst nach der Klub-WM.
