Und die Folgen sind immens. Die Klub-WM beginnt am 14. Juni, das Finale steigt am 13. Juli – nur fünf Wochen vor dem Start der neuen Premier-League-Saison. Die Spieler von Chelsea und City gehen nach dem Turnier erst einmal in den Urlaub und starten dann ohne Vorbereitung in die neue Spielzeit.
[–>Für Tuchel liegt der Fokus aber nicht auf der Klub-WM, sondern der Weltmeisterschaft 2026 in Kanada, Mexiko und den USA. In der Qualifikation sind die „Three Lions“ zuletzt nur ganz knapp einer Blamage entgangen, gegen Andorra hat sich England zu einem 1:0 gequält. Bayern-Stürmer Harry Kane brachte die Erlösung.
Tuchel zeigte sich danach verärgert: „Die letzten 20 Minuten haben mir am meisten Sorgen bereitet, weil mir unsere Einstellung am Ende des Spiels nicht gefallen hat.“ Und: „Mir gefiel die Körpersprache nicht. Es war nicht das, was der Anlass brauchte.“
