Taylor Swift has been granted a temporary restraining order against a 45-year-old ex-convict from Colorado who has allegedly been stalking her and making bizarre claims, including that she is the mother of his child.
Brian Jason Wagner, the man identified in court documents, has been showing up uninvited at Swift’s Los Angeles residence since July 2024, with repeated visits in May of this year. According to Swift’s filing, he has made numerous false claims about their supposed relationship, including statements about living at her property and being romantically involved with the singer. These incidents have escalated to the point where Swift felt compelled to seek legal protection through the courts.

The restraining order, which will remain in effect until June 30, requires Wagner to maintain a distance of at least 100 yards from both Swift and her home. Swift’s security team conducted a background check on Wagner and discovered he has a criminal record, adding to the singer’s concerns about her safety. They also found evidence that while incarcerated, Wagner had written “lengthy communications” detailing a fabricated romantic relationship with the global superstar.
Escalating harassment and identity fraud
Among the more alarming aspects of this case are Wagner’s alleged attempts to establish residency at Swift’s address. In her court filing, Swift claimed that he tried to steal her mail and misrepresented himself to the California Department of Motor Vehicles to obtain a driver’s license using her Los Angeles home address as his own residence.
“I do not share publicly where I reside and have never shared my address or the location of my Los Angeles residence with Mr. Wagner,” Swift stated in her court filing.
The fact that Wagner managed to locate her home and repeatedly visited the property has significantly increased Swift’s anxiety about her personal safety and that of her family members.
According to reports from TMZ and Billboard, Wagner’s behavior follows a disturbing pattern. He has appeared at Swift’s residence multiple times, refusing to leave and insisting he needs access to the property. On several occasions, he has maintained the delusional claim that he lives there and shares a child with Swift, despite the obvious falsity of these assertions.
A pattern of celebrity stalking incidents
Swift expressed in her filing that Wagner’s recent visits and escalating communications with her staff have created “a fear of imminent harm.” The judge presiding over the case will determine whether to issue a permanent restraining order after the temporary one expires at the end of the month.

This is not the first time Swift has faced issues with stalkers. As one of the world’s most recognizable celebrities, she has dealt with multiple similar situations throughout her career. These incidents highlight the darker side of fame, where high-profile artists must contend with obsessive fans who develop dangerous fixations and delusions about personal relationships with stars they admire. The case also underscores the importance of legal protections like restraining orders, which provide celebrities some measure of security against potentially dangerous individuals.
