FIFA offers Miami students incentives for Lionel Messi’s Club World Cup opener

FIFA has offered college students attending Miami Dade College the chance to buy deeply discounted tickets to attend Lionel Messi’s

Inter Miami

Cristiano Ronaldo makes his best Argentinian impression and sends a lovely message to Lionel Messi

clash with Al Ahly at the upcoming Club World Cup.

Tickets still remain available for the fixture at the Hard Rock Stadium, home of the NFL’s Miami Dolphins, and the European organization is keen for a sellout in front of Messi, a global icon regarded as the greatest soccer player of all-time.

The venue houses over 65,000 people and will host the opening fixture as David Beckham’s MLS team takes on the Egyptian champions, and FIFA are running a series of generous promotions in a bid to make sure every seat is filled.

Central to these efforts is a deal with Miami Dade, which has more than 100,000 enrolled students, through cheaper ticket prices with the aim of boosting attendance for what could be a marquee event.

The students have received an offer for one ticket at $20, along with four additional tickets at no extra cost to bring the average down to just four dollars per ticket as FIFA aims to grow the sport in the United States ahead of the 2026 World Cup, different to the Club World Cup, which features only national teams.

The deal was distributed through email and is only accessible to those who can verify their enrollment at the college, a very kind offer from the Switzerland-based sporting body in tough economic times.

The price drop is not limited to student promotions. FIFA’s official sales partner, Ticketmaster, have reduced the price of tickets down from $230 to $55 in a bid to convince anyone sitting on the fence they should attend.

The Club World Cup usually features European powerhouses and garners significant international attention, there is little doubt ticket prices will pick up, especially with efforts such as this from FIFA.

FIFA’s strategy to tap into the student demographic reflects a shrewd understanding of the sports market in the United States, and bodes well ahead of next year’s World Cup – which Messi and Argentina enter as the defending champions.

Where to Watch FIFA Club World Cup Game 1

Fans wanting to watch every single one of the 63 games at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, including Messi‘s Inter Miami, should tune into DAZN for free streaming. Additional matches will also be broadcast by TNT.

Options in Spanish are available on Univision, TUDN and ViX, for the estimated 43.4 million speakers living in the United States.

Inter Miami take on Al Ahly, who won Egypt’s Premier League by just two points from Pyramids FC, in the opener on Saturday, June 14 from 20:00 ET/17:00 PT.
