Jason Kelce may have stepped away from the NFL gridiron in 2024, but retirement hasn’t slowed him down one bit.
The Philadelphia Eagles legend has carved out a dynamic second act that includes a high-profile ESPN deal, a wildly successful podcast with his brother Travis, and now, an unexpected foray into Major League Baseball broadcasting.
On Tuesday, Kelce surprised fans with a cameo on NBC Sports Philadelphia’s broadcast of the Phillies vs. Cubs game. Sporting his usual charisma, Kelce announced his arrival in a short video posted by the network to Instagram.
“What’s up everybody I’m here at the Phillies game right now,” he said. “Hard at work. I’m going to be on the broadcast soon with NBC Sports. Tune in.”
That quick clip was all it took to set social media ablaze. Fans flooded the comments with enthusiasm, calling Kelce’s appearance “SO cool” and praising the energy he brought to the booth.
One fan even crowned him “in the top five of the most popular Philadelphia athletes of all time.”
Another viewer joked: “Kelce and [John] Kruk need their own podcast.”
Though the Phillies ended up on the losing side of the 8-4 contest against the visiting Chicago Cubs, Kelce’s involvement added a silver lining to the night for local fans. His vibrant, down-to-earth presence offered a familiar voice in the booth.
Football remains his anchor
Kelce‘s MLB guest appearance comes during the NFL’s quiet offseason, and it’s unlikely to signal a permanent shift away from football.
The 36-year-old signed a lucrative three-year, $24 million deal with ESPN following his retirement and is set to return this fall as part of the “Monday Night Countdown” crew.
So while NBC Sports Philadelphia may have scored a fun cameo, Kelce remains an ESPN talent for the foreseeable future.
Since calling it a career last year, Kelce has kept fans entertained in multiple arenas. His New Heights podcast with younger brother and Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce continues to top charts, blending sports insight with brotherly banter and off-the-cuff interviews.
Meanwhile, his transition into the studio analyst role at ESPN has been widely applauded, with many praising his smooth shift from center-to-center stage.
But it’s not just media work filling Kelce‘s schedule. Off the air, he’s immersed in family life, helping raise his three toddlers and a newborn alongside wife Kylie.
