Piquerez durante treinamento na Academia de Futebol (Cesar Greco – Ag. Palmeiras)
De volta ao Palmeiras após servir o Uruguai na última Data Fifa, Joaquín Piquerez foi responsável por conversar com a imprensa em coletiva concedida nesta quinta-feira (12), na Carolina do Norte. No papo, o lateral destacou a ansiedade para entrar em campo pela Copa do Mundo de Clubes e adotou discurso confiante ao prospectar o que o alviverde pode entregar no torneio.
Na visão dele, o Verdão ostenta hoje um nível que o coloca em força de igualdade contra todo tipo de adversário, independente de disparidade financeira no comparativo direto com as equipes europeias. Segundo ele, o técnico Abel Ferreira sabe trabalhar o emocional nos bastidores e vai preparar o time taticamente para um bom campeonato nos Estados Unidos. No comentário feito, ele chegou a citar o bom rendimento da equipe no Mundial de 2021, quando encarou Al Ahly e Chelsea.
“No Mundial de 2021, jogamos a semifinal justamente contra o Al Ahly, é um grande time, tem muitos jogadores de seleções, é uma equipe muito forte. Depois, competimos até o final contra o Chelsea, que foi o melhor da Europa naquele ano. Então, é como a gente fala: temos condição de competir de igual para igual com todos. Depois, é futebol, tem três resultados possíveis, mas vamos buscar a vitória contra todos”, disse Piquerez. Naquela oportunidade, o alviverde acabou caindo somente na prorrogação.
Grupo fechado após ‘reforços’
Além de Piquerez, o técnico Abel Ferreira enfim pôde trabalhar com todo o grupo inscrito para o Mundial de Clubes, em atividade dupla realizada nesta quinta-feira (12), na Universidade da Carolina do Norte. Outros sete jogadores se reapresentaram ao Verdão, após participação na última Data Fifa: Gustavo Gómez, Richard Ríos, Emiliano Martínez, Facundo Torres, Estêvão, Benedetti e Luighi.
Antes de debutar frente ao Porto no próximo domingo (15), o elenco do Palmeiras vai realizar sessões de treinamentos nos dois próximos dias, na sede de Greensboro, e só irá viajar para Nova Jersey, palco da estreia, no dia da partida, retornando logo na sequência. O cronograma da fase de grupos fixa confrontos do time palestrino contra o Al Ahly e Inter Miami.
Palmeiras recebe cotas milionárias por Mundial
Um dos quatro representantes brasileiros na Copa do Mundo de Clubes, o Palmeiras vai embolsar altas cifras pela participação na primeira edição do reformulado torneio da Fifa. Somente por estar entre 32 concorrentes, o clube paulista vai receber US$ 15,21 milhões (cerca de R$ 85 milhões na cotação atual) e o índice de premiação pode aumentar significativamente em caso de bom desempenho.
Conforme fixado, cada vitória na fase de grupos garante ao clube participante US$ 2 milhões, enquanto o empate vale 50% deste ano. Além disso, o avanço ao mata-mata também envolve cotas expressivas. A ida às oitavas, por exemplo, garante US$ 7,5 milhões a cada dos 16 classificados. Somente pelo título, o campeão vai faturar US$ 40 milhões.
