Nach Termin-Zoff – Bayern holt sich Final-Führung

Es ist das Traum-Finale der Easycredit Basketball Bundesliga. Titelverteidiger FC Bayern gegen den Überraschungs-Meister von 2023 Ratiopharm Ulm. Und noch bevor der Ball das erste Mal hoch in die Luft geworfen wurde, gab’s richtig Zoff!

Grund: Ulm hatte beantragt, die Termine für Spiel vier (24.6.) und fünf (26.6.) zu verlegen, weil ihre Super-Talente Ben Saraf (18) und Noa Essengue (19) sonst ihren NBA-Draft nicht live in New York erleben können. Doch die Liga schmetterte das Anliegen ab.

Die Antwort der Bayern? Ein nüchterner Sieg! Nach einer Abwehrschlacht holen sich die Münchner im Schlussspurt mit 82:66 (37:36) die Führung in der Serie (Best-of-5).

[–>Sportchef Marko Pesic hatte schon vorher bei Dyn gesagt: „Ich glaube, dass Smarteste für uns alle wäre, das Thema überhaupt nicht zu kommentieren. Ich hoffe, ihr holt jemanden von der BBL und der soll sich hier hinstellen und erklären, was eigentlich passiert ist.“ Und: „Ich habe schon viele Sachen erlebt. Oft in den Serien gegen Berlin. Irgendwelche Aussagen, es wird Stimmung gemacht, Bayern wird in eine Ecke gedrängt.“

Obwohl die Ulmer zwei Tage weniger Erholungszeit hatten, erwischen sie den besseren Start, führen gleich mit 6:0. Doch dann arbeiten sich die Münchner ins Spiel, nehmen den Gästen ihr Tempo-Spiel weg, sichern mehr Abpraller – und übernehmen in der fünften Minute zum ersten Mal die Führung (11:9). Weil Ulms Justinian Jessup im Gegenzug seine Dreier trifft, steht es nach dem ersten Viertel unentschieden (19:19).

Der SAP Garden ist 11.500 Fans wieder ausverkauft. Vorne am Parkett sitzen VIPs wie Bayern-Präsident Herbert Hainer, Ex-Kicker Holger Badstuber, DFB-Kapitänin Giulia Gwinn, Matthias Sammer und die Carpendales. Aber Final-Atmosphäre kommt sehr lange nicht so richtig auf. Für Stimmung sorgen vor allem die 900 mitgereisten Ulmer.

Nach Termin-Zoff mit Gegner Ulm: Bayern holt sich Final-Führung

Weil sich die Kontrahenten aufs Verteidigen konzentrieren, den Gegner antesten, aber im ersten Spiel der Serie nicht „all in“ gehen, bleibt es auch zur Halbzeit knapp.

Nach 35 Minuten hat die Führung schon 19 Mal gewechselt! Die Entscheidung fällt, als Weltmeister Andreas Obst und Shabazz Napier (je 20 Punkte) eiskalt übernehmen – 75:66! 83 Sekunden vor Schluss die höchste Führung der Bayern. Ulm kann nicht mehr kontern. Vielleicht auch, weil nach fünf Halbfinal-Partien weniger orangefarbener Sprit im Tank ist …

Doch das will Karim Jallow nicht gelten lassen: „Eine bittere Niederlage. Es lag nicht an der kürzeren Pause. Wir hatten zu viele Ballverluste.“ Nämlich elf.

Zudem hat der von den Ulmern inszenierte Termin-Zoff offenbar in erster Linie Saraf und Essengue geschadet. Beide haben einen schwachen Abend. Bester Ulmer war Jessup mit 22 Punkten.

Obst: „Das war am Ende deutlicher, als es wirklich war. Ich muss werfen, wenn ich frei bin. Das ging ganz gut. Es war extrem eng. Das passiert, wenn zwei sehr gute Mannschaften aufeinander treffen. Es war eine Defensiv-Schlacht.“

Um den Streit zu schlichten, wollen sich die Parteien nun mit Liga-Geschäftsführer Dr. Stefan Holz treffen.

Ulm-Macher Thorsten Leibenath: „Das ganze Problem würde nicht entstehen, wenn die Liga eine Entscheidung trifft. Hallenverfügbarkeiten spielen keine Rolle, das kann ich mir beim besten Willen nicht vorstellen. Die Spieler sind wohl nicht Aushängeschild genug. Wir sind flexibel, ich hoffe sehr, dass es noch eine Einigung gibt. Warum es nicht jetzt klären und es darauf ankommen lassen. Es wird doch dem Anspruch der Liga nicht gerecht.“

Vor zwei Jahren hatten die Ulmer auf dem Weg zu ihrer Überraschungs-Meisterschaft die Bayern mit 3:0 aus dem Halbfinale gewischt. Schon jetzt ist klar, dass das nicht mehr passiert. Spiel zwei steigt Mittwoch in Ulm (20 Uhr, Dyn).

Doch die Bayern sind gewarnt! Die Ulmer haben in der gesamten Saison nur ein Heimspiel verloren. Pesic: „Es gibt in den Play-offs die goldene Regel: Du musst, wenn du Meister werden willst, egal ob Heimvorteil oder nicht, ein Spiel auswärts gewinnen. Du kannst nicht davon ausgehen, dass du alle deine Spiele zuhause gewinnst. Wenn wir Meister werden wollen, werden wir in Ulm ein Spiel gewinnen müssen.“
