Euro Ablöse haben die „Skyblues“ überwiesen. Besonders die Vision von Trainer Pep Guardiola (53) war für den Nationalspieler ausschlaggebend.
Cherki: „Als ich mit Pep gesprochen habe und er mich wollte, war er sehr, sehr klar. Dass das System, der Klub, die Stadt – alles top ist. Ich will gewinnen – und ich glaube, City will alles gewinnen. Für mich ist das perfekt.“
[–>In der abgelaufenen Saison kam Cherki in 44 Pflichtspielen für Lyon auf 12 Treffer und 20 Vorlagen. Dazu glänzte er bei seinen ersten beiden Länderspielen in der Nations League gegen Spanien und Deutschland (ein Tor, eine Vorlage).
Daran will er ab Sommer bei ManCity anknüpfen. Die „Cityzens“ sind aktuell drauf und dran, ihren Kader umzubauen. Nach der enttäuschenden vergangenen Spielzeit (frühes Aus in den Playoffs der Champions League, Final-Pleite im FA Cup gegen Crystal Palace und Platz drei in der Premier League) will das England-Team aufrüsten. Auch Tijjani Reijnders, Rayan Ait-Nouri und Marcus Bettinelli verstärken nun das Team.
