Muller se encontra otimista com o futuro dos clubes brasileiros na primeira fase Mundial. Além de Palmeiras, Flamengo e Fluminense, o ex-jogador acredita que o Botafogo, presente no “grupo da morte”, vai seguir rumo ao mata-mata. Apesar do provável embate direto pela vaga contra o Atlético de Madrid, o ex-jogador lembrou que o próximo duelo, diante do PSG, pode reservar surpresas e encaminhar a vaga do Glorioso.
Por enquanto, Muller elogiou o desempenho do Botafogo na primeira rodada da fase de grupos. Lidando com o nervosismo da estreia, a equipe de Renato Paiva triunfou sobre o Seattle Sounders por 2 a 1, resultado que manteve os torcedores esperançosos com a classificação para a fase de oitavas de final.
“Eu acredito que, nesta primeira fase, todos os grandes do futebol brasileiro passarão. Até o Botafogo. O Botafogo jogou bem (contra o Seattle Sounders). Acredito que todos se classificarão na primeira fase. O segundo jogo do Botafogo que vai determinar se vai classificar ou não, mas eu vejo que todos vão se classificar. No mata-mata, é outra história.”, disse Muller, no programa “Gazeta Esportiva”.

Na sequência do debate, Alex Muller externou que Palmeiras e Flamengo são os clubes brasileiros que podem chegar mais longe no Mundial. Antes da estreia do Rubro-Negro, em jogo com o Espérance, o jornalista apostou em triunfo do clube carioca. No caso do time alviverde, mesmo que o Atlético de Madrid seja o oponente nas oitavas, houve uma sinalização de que os espanhóis não ocupam o posto de “bicho-papão”.
“Em tese, está entre Palmeiras e Flamengo. Pelo o que o Palmeiras mostrou contra o Porto, acho que classifica e tem condições de enfrentar o Atlético de Madrid ou o Botafogo, ganhar e passar adiante. O Flamengo também. Deve vencer o Espérance, da Tunísia, e depois vai lutar dentro da sua chave para seguir adiante.”, opinou Alex Muller.
Muller prevê evolução do Palmeiras
Sem balançar as redes e com a baliza intacta, o Palmeiras somou um ponto contra o Porto. Embora tenha destacado uma falta de protagonismo dos principais jogadores da equipe, Muller projeta que, ao encarar o Al Ahly, os comandados de Abel Ferreira devem mostrar um futebol capaz de garantir o primeiro triunfo no Mundial.
“O Palmeiras jogou mais que o Porto. O Porto tem valores individuais bons, não tem um time como o Palmeiras, que tem uma identidade. O Palmeiras joga bem e sufoca o adversário desde a saída de bola. O Palmeiras jogou mais que o Porto e mereceu a vitória. Mas, no contexto geral, o jogo não foi tecnicamente bom. Os principais jogadores do Palmeiras não fizeram a diferença como se esperava. Eu acredito que o Palmeiras vai jogar mais e fazer gols na próxima partida.”, opinou.
