Caio Ribeiro vê o Palmeiras sendo dono de um status único no futebol brasileiro. Apesar da concorrência envolvendo o Flamengo, o ex-jogador considera que o Verdão é o clube de maior porte europeu em solo nacional. Porém, embora o patamar seja elevado, houve um alerta da possibilidade do encontro com o PSG nas oitavas de final do Mundial.
Para escapar do PSG, provável líder do Grupo B, o Palmeiras precisa da liderança em sua chave. Após o empate contra o Porto, na estreia, a equipe de Abel Ferreira tem pela frente Al Ahly e Inter Miami, adversários mais fáceis em relação ao oponente inicial e que podem viabilizar o primeiro lugar na classificação.
“O Palmeiras é um time muito organizado e competitivo. Para mim, é o mais europeu dos times brasileiros […] Na minha cabeça, o Palmeiras classifica em primeiro ou segundo e cruzaria com a chave de Botafogo, PSG e Atlético de Madrid. Eu vejo o PSG, atual campeão da Champions League, muito forte do outro lado. Seria bom fugir dos caras. Fragilidade do Inter Miami
Ainda que tenha Lionel Messi e Suárez à disposição, o Inter Miami tem grandes chances de amargar a lanterna do Grupo A. Diante da fragilidade do time norte-americano, Caio Ribeiro considera que o último compromisso será importante para abastecer o saldo de gols, algo capaz de definir o adversário no mata-mata do Mundial.
“O Inter Miami tem muitas deficiências atrás, a defesa deixa muitos buracos. Se não fosse o goleiro (do Al Ahly), teria perdido o jogo. Tem o Messi do meio para frente, que é um dos maiores de todos os tempos. Ele acha espaços e finalizações, é um cara muito acima da média, mesmo em outro momento de carreira. Mas o Palmeiras é melhor que os dois.”, afirmou.
Caio Ribeiro é realista ao ressaltar formato do Mundial
Totalmente sincero, Caio Ribeiro não garante uma trajetória longa do Palmeiras no mata-mata do Mundial. Levando em conta que o Atlético de Madrid será o segundo colocado no grupo do PSG, o ex-jogador prevê uma tarefa complicada para que o time espanhol seja desbancado em campo.
“É distante. É um time organizado, competitivo e talentoso. Mas temos que entender, e eu sei que não é o que o torcedor palmeirense gostaria de ouvir, mas ainda existe uma diferença muito grande no investimento dos brasileiros para os europeus. Em um jogo, você pode apresentar uma surpresa e buscar o resultado. Com esse novo modelo de disputa, fica muito complicado. Eu torço para o Palmeiras chegar muito longe, gostaria que fosse campeão do mundo, mas a minha perspectiva é que o Palmeiras (tenha dificuldades). A chance que o Palmeiras tem em chegar nas quartas é fugir do PSG e pegar o Atlético de Madrid.”, externou.
