For the better part of the WNBA season, most of the spotlight onCaitlin Clark’s rivalries has been fixed squarely on Angel Reese. Their back-and-forths-on and off the court-have brought drama, headlines, and a boost to league visibility.
But this week, a new name entered the rivalry ring: Jacy Sheldon.

During Monday night’s Fever vs. Sun matchup, things got physical fast. Sheldon, Clark’s old Big Ten rival from Ohio State, delivered a hard poke to Clark’s face in the third quarter. Clark responded with a shove. What followed felt like a college grudge reincarnated-with a WNBA twist.
A Rivalry Reignited-This Time on a Bigger Stage
Moments after the initial clash, Marina Mabrey blindsided Clark with a shove that sent her to the floor. While referees handed out technicals, fans on social media were stunned that Mabrey wasn’t tossed from the game. That moment flipped the switch. The tension was no longer subtle-it was explosive.
And it didn’t stop there. Late in the game, Indiana’s Sophie Cunningham delivered a hard foul on Sheldon that set off a full-on scuffle. Cunningham, Sheldon, and Lindsay Allen were ejected. Clark, meanwhile, stayed in-fired up, unfazed, and vocal. Cameras caught her muttering, “You can do whatever the f— you want,” in Sheldon’s direction.
