Leroy Sané (29) wird künftig nicht mehr für die Bayern auflaufen. Er wechselt zu Galatasaray Istanbul, verlängerte seinen Vertrag in München nicht.

Am Dienstag sprach der Weltmeister von 2014 am Rande eines Schulbesuchs im Istanbuler Stadtteil Başakşehir über den Sané-Wechsel.

Außerdem verriet der Ex-Profi, der 2023 seine Karriere beendete, welche Rolle er selbst beim Wechsel spielte. Zuvor hatten türkische Medien berichtet, dass Özil daran entscheidend mitgewirkt haben soll.

Der ehemalige Weltklasse-Spielmacher: „Ich habe mit Leroy Sané gesprochen, bevor er in die Türkei kam, aber es ist nicht so, dass ich ihn zu Galatasaray gelotst habe, wie es in den Medien geschrieben wird. Er hat sich nach dem Leben in der Türkei und in Istanbul erkundigt und wir haben darüber gesprochen.“
Und weiter: „Ich habe ihm gesagt, dass es eine sehr schöne und sichere Stadt ist. Ich habe gesagt, dass wir unglaubliches Essen haben und dass wir uns sehr freuen würden, wenn er kommt und er ist gekommen. Ich wünsche ihm viel Erfolg.“
Özil und Sané verbindet die gemeinsame fußballerische Herkunft. Beide wuchsen im Ruhrgebiet auf, durchliefen die Schalke-Jugend und reiften anschließend bei anderen Vereinen (Özil in Bremen, Sané bei Manchester City) zu absoluten Top-Stars.
Von 2015 bis 2018 liefen sie zudem zusammen für die Nationalmannschaft auf.
