Zwei Spiele, zwei Siege! Über diesen Traumstart der U21-Handballer bei der WM in Polen freut sich auch der Bundestrainer der A-Nationalmannschaft.
Alfred Gislason sah das 43:33 gegen die Schweiz, was den Gruppensieg und den Einzug in die Hauptrunde bedeutete, live auf der Tribüne. „Die Jungs haben ein überragendes Spiel gezeigt. Eigentlich hatte ich ein sehr enges Spiel erwartet, das erst in der Schlussphase entschieden würde, aber unsere Mannschaft hat super losgelegt und schon nach 20 Minuten sah es nach einem sicheren Sieg aus. Das war eine sehr gute Mannschaftsleistung in Angriff und Abwehr“, lobte Gislason.

U21-Coach Martin Heuberger erklärte: „Zwei Spiele, zwei Siege – das ist gut so. Und natürlich wollen wir jetzt auch noch das dritte Vorrundenspiel gegen Tunesien erfolgreich bestreiten.“ Das steigt am Samstag, um 21 Uhr (live bei Dyn/Anzeige).

Und wie war das Zusammentreffen mit Bundestrainer Gislason? Heuberger verrät: „Mit Alfred hatten wir den direkten Kontakt erst nach dem Spiel. Er ist mit seinem Auto direkt aus Deutschland angereist und hatte sich zuvor auch die Partie Serbien gegen Tunesien angeschaut. Danach ist er mit uns ins Hotel gefahren und wir haben gemeinsam gegessen und am Morgen gefrühstückt. Dann hat er auch schon wieder die Heimreise angetreten.“
[–>Im Falle des Einzugs ins Halbfinale will er allerdings wiederkommen. Wird das den deutschen Talenten gelingen? Heuberger: „Ich bin leider kein Hellseher. Wir gehen von Spiel zu Spiel und haben schon mal die Gewissheit, die Hauptrunde erreicht zu haben. Wir wissen aber auch, dass wir mit Ägypten und Spanien dort auf zwei Titelaspiranten treffen werden. Diese Aufgaben sind Herkulesaufgaben für uns, denen wir uns aber sehr gern stellen.“

Recently promoted Spanish league club Real Oviedo fired Serbian coach Veljko Paunovic on Thursday, with the team hovering just above the relegation zone.Paunovic steered Oviedo back to the topflight for the first time in 24 years last season, but the Mexican-owned club let him go after two wins and six losses this campaign.
