The season has gotten off to a rough start for the Chicago Sky. Through 12 games, things haven’t gone as expected. They wish the situation were different, but they’ll have to work hard in practice to get back on track-the winning track.
Some might call their season a rollercoaster, but truthfully, it feels more like a downhill avalanche. In many games, they seem out of sync, disjointed, and even lost. A clear example of this came just yesterday, when they were blown out by the Phoenix Mercury, 107-86, dropping their record to 3-9.
Angel Reese shines with every move as she debuts a new look on her way to the court
Bleak outlook
The Sky’s next matchup is on the road against the Atlanta Dream, who already defeated Reese and company on June 13 by a score of 88-70. Atlanta currently holds a 9-4 record and sits in second place in the Eastern Conference.
Angel Reese injury update
Now more than ever, with things not going according to plan, their best player, Angel Reese, has raised concerns regarding her health. The
Chicago forward
was listed as questionable for the game due to a leg injury.
During pregame warmups, Reese appeared to move naturally, and that seemed to suggest she would be available to play. Minutes later, this was confirmed-the Angel of Chicago is ready to go.
A disappointing performance in her last game
Despite being the leader of her team and the guiding star for her teammates, she hasn’t been able to deliver at the level needed to secure wins for the Sky recently.
Her last outing against Phoenix was disheartening. Her performance on the court was mediocre: she scored just nine points and made only one field goal. She did make all six of her free throws and added two rebounds and two assists.
Reese’s season hasn’t been all bad
One bad night doesn’t ruin an entire season, right? What happened against Phoenix hasn’t been the norm for Angel Reese. So far this season, she’s averaging 10.8 points, 10.9 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 1.6 steals per game. She’s shooting 38.4% from the field, 30% from three-point range, and 74.5% from the free-throw line.
With those numbers, it seems it’s just a matter of time before the entire team finds its rhythm, the tough times become a distant memory, and wins start to come. First, they’ll aim to even out their record, then move above the .500 mark.

After hearing the good news that their favorite player, Angel Reese, would be available for Sunday’s game, fans reacted with joy, excited to see her fight for the win and continue building on her WNBA stats.
She may not see many minutes on the court, to avoid putting too much strain on her knee, which could lead to a more serious injury-and likely a much longer absence.
For now, she’s taking it one game at a time, focusing on the present and helping her team climb out of the hole they’re in. Perhaps it’s only a matter of time before they find their way back to winning.
