Como torcedor de futebol, sou um pessimista convicto. Tenho aquele espírito atribuído aos alvinegros, de achar que tudo vai dar errado o tempo todo. Mas, carrego comigo uma contradição: quando a vitória vem, não reajo a ela com alívio, e sim com a alegria de quem sempre acreditou, como se diz dos rubro-negros. E disparo memes nos grupos de amigos com a soberba do estereótipo tricolor.

Na hora de entrar no ar para apresentar o “Redação SporTV” ou de escrever esta coluna, tento deixar tudo isso de lado, como um cruz-maltino assistindo à Copa do Mundo de Clubes. Não sei se consigo. Talvez o que resulte seja uma mistura de todos esses comportamentos — exatamente o que estou sentindo ao fim do primeiro round de confrontos entre brasileiros e europeus.

Estava preparado para o pior: desde 2005, quando a Fifa mudou a fórmula de disputa do Mundial Interclubes, foram só três vitórias de representantes do Brasil (e nenhuma de outro país da América do Sul) sobre os da Europa; todas por 1 a 0, com todo mundo na defesa, goleiros fazendo os jogos de suas vidas e um gol de contra-ataque. Fora as derrotas para o resto do mundo antes da final.

Durante esse período, os clubes europeus, já beneficiados pela Lei Bosman, que aumentou a circulação de jogadores, receberam investimentos bilionários de russos, cataris, sauditas, americanos… Por que, então, esperar que na Copa do Mundo a distância técnica de lá para cá diminuísse? Não posso falar pelo pessimismo dos outros, mas o meu não era colonial, era financeiro mesmo.

Só que, quando a bola rolou nos Estados Unidos, logo se viu que o bicho não era tão feio quanto parecia. E as tropas se mobilizaram para apresentar as explicações pré-fabricadas: quem tinha apostado na prevalência dos europeus apontou fatores como o calendário, o calor, um suposto desinteresse; quem acreditava num equilíbrio maior tratou logo de dizer que futebol se resolve no campo com 11 contra 11 e que nos confrontos do fim do ano ninguém falava do desgaste dos sul-americanos.

Sei que isso não é muito popular em tempos de Fla-Flu virtual, mas cada um tem lá sua razão. Dificilmente haverá uma maneira de confrontar clubes dos dois lados do Atlântico em condições de igualdade. É preciso se virar com as condições que são apresentadas — como, de resto, acontece na outra Copa do Mundo, a de seleções.

O debate sobre futebol parece ter uma certa dificuldade de aceitar a coexistência de fatores. Numa mesma jogada, por exemplo, um zagueiro pode falhar feio na marcação e permitir que um atacante faça um golaço de bicicleta. Da mesma forma, não há erro em dizer que os jogadores dos clubes europeus preferiam estar de férias, que alguns treinadores estão começando seus trabalhos, que os torcedores não ligam para competições da Fifa.

Só não concordo que isso diminua a vontade de ganhar: o Borussia Dortmund se frustrou, o PSG botou a cavalaria no segundo tempo, o Chelsea abriu a caixa de ferramentas. E Fluminense, Botafogo e Flamengo têm muito o que comemorar, não pelo que os adversários deixaram de fazer, mas pelo que eles fizeram.

Não dá para saber quanto tempo a festa vai durar, os europeus podem muito bem se recuperar durante a competição. Mas, por enquanto, os brasileiros bem que poderiam fazer dos versos de Felipe Cordeiro o hino desta Copa do Mundo: “você pra mim é problema seu”.
