Colorado tem alguns ex-atletas brilhando na Copa do Mundo de Clubes, enquanto o clube gaúcho está na zona de rebaixamento do Brasileirão
O Internacional não está no Mundial de Clubes, mas seus torcedores podem acompanhar alguns ex-jogadores do clube. Muitos deles não deixaram saudades, mas têm brilhado em seus clubes. O zagueiro Léo Ortiz, por exemplo, foi revelado pelo Colorado, sem grande destaque. Hoje, é um dos principais jogadores do Flamengo, sendo convocado pela seleção brasileira.
Um dos responsáveis por parar o PSG, o goleiro John, do Botafogo, passou pelo Inter em 2023, mas acabou saindo após a chegada de Rochet. O atual camisa 12 do Glorioso fez apenas 14 jogos pelo clube gaúcho. Outro goleiro que também teve passagem pelo Internacional é Marcelo Lomba, que atualmente é reserva no Palmeiras.

Além dos jogadores já citados, há outros oito com passagem pelo Internacional na Copa do Mundo de Clubes. Destaque para o meia Maurício, que foi decisivo no último jogo do Palmeiras, dando uma boa assistência para o segundo gol. O atleta estava no Inter até o ano passado, quando foi vendido ao Verdão por 10,5 milhões de euros (cerca de R$ 62,1 milhões).
Há outros nomes também que passaram pelo Colorado mas não tiveram tanto destaque, como Bauermann, João Paulo e Palácios. O meia-atacante Yan Sasse, que atua no Espérance de Tunis, jogou nas categorias de base do clube gaúcho, mas se profissionalizou no Coritiba. Veja abaixo a lista de jogadores:

A primeira edição do novo formato da Copa do Mundo de Clubes tem Palmeiras, Flamengo, Fluminense e Botafogo representando o futebol brasileiro. O torneio ainda conta com grandes clubes europeus, como Real Madrid, Juventus, Bayern de Munique, PSG, Inter de Milão, Manchester City, Chelsea, entre outros.
E os clubes brasileiros começaram muito bem a competição. Após duas rodadas disputadas, todos lideram seus respectivos grupos. O Flamengo, por exemplo, já está classificado ao mata-mata, enquanto os outros três precisam apenas de um empate na última rodada para avançar de fase. Nas oitavas de final, podemos ter um duelo nacional, caso Palmeiras e Botafogo avancem em posições diferentes (um em primeiro e o outro em segundo).
