Der FC Augsburg hat seinen Wunschtrainer verpflichtet: Ex-DFB-Coach Sandro Wagner (37). Doch damit nicht genug. Nächste Saison wollen die Augsburger richtig Gas geben – und besetzen dafür ihre komplette Führung neu.

Nach SPORT BILD-Informationen übernimmt Paderborns bisheriger Sportgeschäftsführer Benjamin Weber (42) als Nachfolger von Marinko Jurendić (47) künftig die Rolle des Sportdirektors.
Er leitet den sportlichen Bereich, soll gleichzeitig ein Bindeglied zwischen Trainer Wagner und der Mannschaft werden und die Letztentscheidung bei wichtigen sportlichen Fragen treffen.
Er übernimmt die Rolle des Sportdirektors künftig beim FC Augsburg: Benjamin Weber (42)

Neuer Kaderplaner wird Ex-Bochum-Sportdirektor Marc Lettau (39), der vor seiner Zeit beim VfL auch bei Union Berlin zwischen 2018 und 2022 sehr erfolgreich gearbeitet hat.
Dass er bei seinen Vorgängerstationen immer wieder kreative Lösungen gefunden hat, soll die Augsburger begeistert haben, dass sie ihn für diese Rolle unbedingt für sich haben wollten. Sein gutes Netzwerk und seine Kontakte sollen helfen, Neuzugänge an Land zu ziehen, die sofort helfen können.

Manuel Baum (45), der zwischen Dezember 2016 und April 2019 selbst Trainer (85 Pflichtspiele) in Augsburg war, kehrt zurück an seine alte Wirkungsstätte!
Nicht als Trainer: Er wird Leiter des Bereichs Entwicklung und Fußballinnovation. Dabei soll er nach BILD-Informationen nicht nur seine Expertise im Nachwuchsbereich einbringen, sondern sich auch um Themen wie Schlaf, Ernährung und technische Innovationen bei den Profis kümmern. Er wird übergeordnet für Performance, Daten, Technologien, Innovation, Verzahnung Profis und Nachwuchs sowie die Top-Talente verantwortlich sein. Zuletzt leitete er bei RB Leipzig bis Ende Juni die Nachwuchsabteilung und gilt auch wegen seiner früheren Stationen als Trainer als absoluter Fachmann in der Bundesliga.

Nach BILD-Informationen beginnt Ex-Augsburg-Profi Julian Baumgartlinger (37) als Koordinator Lizenzspielerabteilung.
Auch er soll künftig nach an der Mannschaft von Sandro Wagner dran sein und sein Wissen und seine Leader-Qualitäten aus seiner Zeit in Leverkusen (152 Partien) und als Nationalspieler Österreichs (84 Länderspiele) mit einbringen. Er beendete nach insgesamt über 400 Pflichtspielen 2023 beim FC Augsburg seine Karriere.

Trainingsauftakt bei den Augsburgern ist offiziell am 7. Juli. Dann bereitet Trainer Sandro Wagner seine Mannschaft auf die neue Saison vor. Mit dabei ist dann auch Augsburgs erster Sommerneuzugang, Elisas Saad (25). Der Linksaußen kommt für zwei Millionen Euro vom FC St. Pauli nach Schwaben.
