Vor fast zwei Jahren verließ Nnamdi Collins (21) den BVB, wechselte für eine Ablöse in Höhe von 600.000 Euro Euro zu Liga-Konkurrent Frankfurt. Jetzt spricht er noch einmal über seinen Ex-Klub und tritt leicht nach.
Der Innenverteidiger: „Vielleicht wurde sich nicht immer an Vereinbarungen gehalten. Dann hockt man noch ein Jahr länger bei der U19. Ich war drei Jahre in der U19, das war schon ein bisschen lang.“
[–>Aktuell kämpft Collins mit der deutschen U21-Nationalmannschaft in der Slowakei um den EM-Titel. Bisher stand er bei allen fünf Spielen bei diesem Turnier auf dem Platz, beim 4:2 in der Gruppenphase gegen Tschechien und 3:0 im Halbfinale gegen Frankreich spielte er durch. Samstag will er mit dem Team gegen England (ab 21 Uhr/Live-Ticker bei SPORT BILD.de) den Titel holen. Es wäre der erste große Erfolg in seiner Karriere.
Collins spielte zunächst in der Jugend von Fortuna Düsseldorf, wechselte 2016 zu Borussia Dortmund. 2019 spielte er beim BVB in der U17, 2020 in der U19, im Sommer 2023 zählte er einen Monat zum Kader des BVB II. Dann verließ er Dortmund und ging zur Eintracht. Collins rückblickend: „Ich war damals beim BVB und damit schon bei einem großen Klub. Ich habe mich bei Dortmund pudelwohl gefühlt. Es war überwiegend eine fantastische Zeit, deswegen habe ich mich entschieden, beim BVB zu bleiben.“
Völler nach Final-Einzug: Das macht die U21 besser als die Nationalelf
Bereits Ende 2024 erklärte er: „Ich habe vor allem die Jugendzeit beim BVB verbracht und ich kann nur sagen, die Jugendzeit war die schönste Zeit in meiner jungen Karriere. Im Profibereich habe ich beim BVB nicht allzu viel mitgemacht. Bei der Eintracht jetzt, merke ich einfach diese Bereitschaft Menschen zu helfen, die positive Stimmung und Gelassenheit. Ich bin ein Spieler, der es mag, wenn man sich gegenseitig hilft und supportet und dass man vor allem den Spaß dabei nicht verliert.“
Und: „Wir haben alle wegen dem Spaß am Fußball angefangen. Klar ist Fußball auch nicht nur Spaß, aber der Spaß darf einfach nicht in Vergessenheit geraten. Hier bei der Eintracht habe ich einfach diese Lockerheit, diesen Spaß. Es macht einfach Bock zu trainieren. Beim BVB hatte ich eher das Gefühl von Unsicherheit in den Trainings und das ist für mich heute ein riesiger Unterschied.“
