A Fifa já escolheu o árbitro que será responsável pela partida entre Palmeiras e Botafogo, marcada para este sábado (28), às 13h (de Brasília), no Estádio Lincoln Financial Field, na Philadelphia, pelas oitavas de final do Mundial de Clubes, trata-se do francês François Letexier. O profissional foi eleito o melhor da função na escala global em 2024, através da IFFHS (Federação Internacional de História e Estatísticas do Futebol).
O árbitro foi responsável por comandar o duelo Espanha x Inglaterra, pela finalíssima da Eurocopa, realizada no último ano, em Munique, na Alemanha. Na oportunidade, a “Fúria” venceu pelo placar de 2 a 1, e ficou com o título. Na atual edição do Mundial de Clubes, Letexier só apitou uma partida: o duelo Benfica 1×0 Bayern de Munique, válido pela 3ª rodada do Grupo C, que definiu o time bávaro no caminho do Flamengo nas oitavas.
Além de Letexier, o duelo Palmeiras x Botafogo terá participação dos auxiliares Cyril Mugnier e Mehdi, também franceses, enquanto o sueco Glenn Nyberg será o quarto árbitro. Até o fechamento desta matéria, a Fifa ainda não havia anunciado os profissionais responsáveis pela operação do VAR (árbitro de vídeo).
Palmeiras x Botafogo tem altas cifras em jogo
Tendo faturado o mesmo volume de premiação na fase de grupos (R$ 148,5 milhões), Palmeiras e Botafogo buscam cifras ainda mais expressivas pela classificação às quartas de final. O time brasileiro que seguir vivo no torneio vai embolsar mais US$ 13,12 milhões em cotas da Fifa (cerca de R$ 72 milhões na cotação atual).
O índice, por exemplo, já supera com sobras as cifras os valores que os dois times faturaram com os títulos do Brasileirão nas duas últimas temporadas. Em 2023, o Verdão abocanhou R$ 47,8 milhões, enquanto no ano passado, o Glorioso embolsou R$ 48,1 milhões pela conquista nacional, onde findou um hiato de quase três décadas sem título no certame.
Desfalques confirmados para decisão
Abel Ferreira e Renato Paiva terão problemas na montagem dos seus respectivos visando o confronto deste sábado. Do lado alviverde, embora Aníbal Moreno tenha se recuperado de problema físico, o treinador perdeu o zagueiro Murilo, que se lesionou no confronto diante do Inter Miami, e não joga mais o Mundial. Bruno Fuchs deve ser o substituto.
Do lado alvinegro, a baixa é por suspensão. Advertido com o segundo amarelo no duelo frente ao Atlético de Madrid, o volante Gregore é desfalque confirmado. Pela ausência do pilar no meio-campo, o Botafogo pode ter uma alteração no esquema, retornando ao sistema com dois volantes e mais um homem avançado no comando ofensivo.
